Minecraft Education 1.17.30.2 Stuck on Downloading Resources Page

We are still having issues with Minecraft EDU at my school. Everything was working great until the update. We tried both suggestions below.

    1.(C:\Users <user>\AppData\Local\Temp\minecraftpe\DownloadTemp\

    And delete this file: download_state.jso

    2.

    • Uninstall v 1.17.30.5
    • Delete the folder in Program Files (I also deleted everything in AppData/Roaming but we had the worlds exported recently, so it was safe to do. If you haven't done it you will lose the worlds, so try the trick without doing it).
    • Install v 1.14.70.0
    • Run v 1.14.70.0 and make sure it works
    • Install v 1.17.30.5 on top (upgrade)

Neither worked and it still says downloading resources page. This is very frustrating as an educator who is trying to build this program at our school.

I'm so sorry for the troubles, Rob Blaber Ben Honeycutt , Marilyn Christie and others. It does sound, from the official comment from Andrew-L that things are moving along. I will repeat what was posted in the official comment at the top of this thread. (note the date)

    Edit 12/3/2021

    More good news everyone!

This is Andrew from the support team with another update.

We will be releasing a fix soon. While do not have an ETA for this patch, it will be for all platforms (Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS, and iOS). We just need a little more time to get it ready.

This has been a lot of trouble for many of you and for that we again offer our apologies. Your patience as a community has been amazing. We appreciate all the technical information that you've sent us as well as the trace logs. Getting this far wouldn't have been possible without your help.

We do have a current work around we recommend for Windows users. First, navigate to:

    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp\minecraftpe\DownloadTemp\

    And delete this file: download_state.json

This may take multiple tries, but our team was able to reproduce the issue and fix it with this. Deleting this file may help other versions as well. I'll update all of you once I have more information. Thank you for your patience and your love of Minecraft: Education Edition!

I hope we will hear something soon!

is it an account problem or software problem?

Same issue still for me. Stuck on loading resource. Also the same for saving worlds.

It always seems to work fine until randomly on your world, it just stops loading well or saving well.

This is my second world I have lost to this annoying "update". I have been working on both of those worlds for months for my classroom.

Same issue as above. Everything ran okay on 1.14. version a couple weeks ago.

Updated to 1.17.30, and everything but the game world's PASSWORD system worked.

Now the game gets stuck on the "Downloading resources" screen after typing in the log-in information.

Running a desktop PC with Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Intel core-i7 and GTX 1060.

The problem also replicates on my Window 10 Pro laptop. Re-installing also seems to fail (something something you don't have permission to this file?)

Exact same issue with similar setup as J P above, please let me know if you discover a solution to make it past the downloading resources screen.

    Hello,

I see 3 different issues being discussed, all relevant to me.

    To Agrim Chauhan,

The updater.exe plagued me for a couple of days and I had a thread about it on here.  What I figured out is when you run the installer at least on a Windows 7 computer, it extracts files to a hidden folder called C:\ProgramData   After you uninstall your old minecraft, delete the Microsoft Studios folder in this hidden folder and when you run the installer it will work again without updater.exe causing a critical failure.

I had the same issue as JP with the joincode system not connecting.  It would say "Join Codes are not available right now" even though they are working for students on other platforms.  I believe it is some sort of failure that is happening on Windows 7 pc's.

And now I am having the same issues with being stuck on Downloading Resources, though the game did work for a couple of days until today.

I am on a Windows 7 desktop and fully updated as I took care of that on the post I made asking for technical help.

We are noticing the same issue at two of my sites (Secondary Schools in Victoria) so we rolled back to v1.14.70.0 which works fine. We also updated group policy to delete the Minecraft for Education scheduled tasks which update the software. This way we can continue to use the software until this issue has been resolved (bit of a pain but it is what it is) without the software auto-updating.

May I please have a link to download v 1.14.70.0? Thank you for sharing this solution.

I have also tried uninstall v1.17.30.5 and install v1.14.70.0 and that works. So at least that's a work around for Windows devices.

However, I have not figured out how to roll it back to v1.14.70.0 for Chrome book devices. Any suggestion?

    Thanks very much.

You can fix this by loading via hotspot, or at home then loading on school wifi.  -Victorian Secondary, looks like a firewall/port issue?

Is there a fix for this issue yet?

    0
  • J P

    @Michael Newman

No. MS' staff is just washing their hands and instructing people to send tickets + post specs.

Just check out the round-about solution from the previous page, posted by Nick Baskakov. It's a bit of a hassle, and may still cause issues, but at least I got in the game. Just hope this Bee-eS won't leak to the MC Java version, or I shall never ever migrate my account.

I have had success with updating to the newest version 10.17.30.52 and then deleting the following folder:

    C:\Users\(USERNAME)\AppData\local\temp\minecraftpe

On the next run, you login and it seems to do the trick. Confirmed this on several devices so far. Only issue is the fix is per user. So if you have shared devices, you need to apply the fix to each user that uses the device.

Even with the .52 installer, we are experiencing this issue. Strangely enough, the progress bar for downloading resources fills to 100%, but the game never progresses.

So, thanks to those who replied and told me to redownload.

I have uninstalled v1.17.30.50 and downloaded v1.17.30.52.exe file.  This is what I get when I open it:

I have tried restarting and redownloading. Still the same problem.

Now I have no Minecraft and I don't have a copy of the old version. Please fix this quickly!

Following. I've tried the fixes with no luck.

Thanks Shane Crilly it has worked now.  I can't see that was mentioned anywhere in the instructions, it just said to redownload and install.  So I appreciate you telling me.

Any sign of a fix for the iOS app? Same issue. The deleting folder from files fix doesnt work. :-(

  • Jonathan Pepper

Has there been any change on this one?  When I download the installer from the main site, it says that it is v.1.17.30.52, but only shows v1.17.30 on the main screen and the issue still persists.

UPDATE:  The installer from the website (and Minecraft itself) works fine on my work laptop.  It DOES NOT work on the lab machines that need it installed.

I've sent in my logs from Fiddler to the support team. Oddly enough, it works on my non admin and admin accounts, but not on a student account. The user has full rights to edit into the folder to download the resources so....

Brian Walz thank you!  We didn't receive the logs - I'm going to open a ticket, which will generate an email that you can attach them to.

Going thru the motions, hoping I can get this working on my machine, then a lab.

Downloaded the installer, ran as administrator, and I get this:

Finally got the reinstallation to go thru, but the downloading resources window never closes/finishes.

Just trying to keep this thread active.

This is what it says when I type in that web address:file:///C:/Users/%3Cuser%3E/AppData/Local/Temp/minecraftpe/DownloadTemp/

I still log into Minecraft and it still gets stuck on the loading resources page. Our tech department said the program is trying to access XBOX live and it is blocked (and rightly so) by almost all schools, including ours.

I've been replacing the folders underneath C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Minecraft Education Edition of profiles that do not work with ones that are working and that seems to be making everything work for the time being.

I assume that it will break again with future updates, but I have such a small number of students using it that I might just have to do it every time there is an update...

Hi Stacy Latham, we have a list of required URLs that Minecraft: Education Edition needs to work and why. I recommend forwarding this to your IT team:

The .Json file method is inefficient as we are a district with 100's of devices that all have Minecraft deployed to them. Might there be a fix to address on a wider scale ? The .Json method was attempted however there has been no resolve.
