    UPDATE:

    On further investigation of course there is a big difference. I have checked the differences and when signing in on Chromebook it passes like there was no native client issue at all. This is also proving my case about chromebooks only being able to use Minecraft as specifically native client is built for chromebook. iPads launch the message due to not being compatible with native client. This could have been because they forgot native client isn’t compatible with iPads or because there is a problem with the code to allow the login of iPads and it’s just going to launch native because of the code. If this is fixed this will just be a miracle for everyone using Minecraft especially for schools.

    The reason we opened this was because we don’t know. The only thing I know is the difference between iPads and Chromebooks. Of course I am not the support team and I’m not a teacher either I want to be a support team member but of course I signed up as teacher so yeah, that’s the only thing I know.

    UPDATE:

    It’s not nycstudents.net! I have tried on chromebook and android and guess what, it worked! This means minecraft education forgot to create the working version on iPads. In simple terms, it only works with androids. Chromebooks are operated with Android.

    I just want to clarify for everyone on this post. This post is for the issue when users on iPads are seeing "Native Client." This issue stems from an issue between NYCDOE's federated login and our new login backend and only happens on iPads. If anyone is seeing this Native Client issue and they are not part of NYC, please let me know so we can get a ticket created for you.

  • Hi. I don’t mean to rush you, but since this is an issue a-lot of people including me are having your team should look into it. When I am about to sign in, it continues to tell me “native client zero KB”. Please, you and your team can figure this out.

    I am using mimecraft on my iPad which is version 1.18.52 and works just fine.  However, my friend has a iPhone 10 which got auto-updated to 1.19 and is having the native client login issue.  Other devices work perfectly fine according to him.  It leads me to conclude that there is a issue with the nycstudents and with mobile devices, not too sure yet.

  • Mine is not a DOE iPad, but I’m still seeing it. I think it is from all IOS, because of what Ren L. said. My friend is on a MacBook which is working fine. It works on computers but not ipads

    Can you at least make it so if you clicked demo lesson it will temporarily let you play normally?

    We cannot at this time since we are still trying to isolate what is causing this issue. Aaron Goldstein, can you send a screenshot of what you are seeing on your iPad and let us know if you are using any tools like a VPN or content filter with your device and network?

    The same thing appears too on my screen, and when I try to open it, it does not open to anything on every single app it tells me to open or download native client. Hope you can fix this soon! Bye!

    We haven’t been able use the Minecraft education app for an entire month. If you’re unable to fix this for the 1 million students in the NYC DOE, please allow us to use the prior version or provide us with temporary logins for the rest of the school year.

    Jose is correct. While I’m a not any sort of engineer or anything, I did some research and there was no signs of Apple ever adding support to the nativeclient files. My guess on the reason apple never added the support is because some devices (including the iPad) don’t have the support to use or read files without a extension, And if the native client did have a file extension, the file extension would need to be supported by Apple. Example, when you use GarageBand on your iPad, it uses a file extension called .m4a because it is mainly used for some music apps and so you can play it on your iPad without an app too. But another example is .apk, .APK was never supported or intended to be ever supported on any Apple devices. The reason is because that extension is for Android apps. Android runs Dalvik (a "variant of Java") bytecode packaged in APK files while iOS runs Compiled (from Obj-C) code from IPA files. But if a file doesn’t have an extension, your Apple device won’t be able to read it because some file extensions are assigned to different code languages. So it won’t know how to use or read it because it doesn’t know which code language to run. That is why file extensions were made. So devices know which code language to run and so they don’t run it incorrectly and cause a disaster.

    Is it just me or is there a crash folder in the minecraft education files? For some reason it always comes back when I’m logging in. I’ve checked in the other NYC issued iPads and they seem to contain this folder as well, maybe it’s related to the logging issue?Info on the crash file:

  • I have seen the crash folder before, and I found it before I got the 1.19 update, so it seems unlikely to me that it is because of the crash folder.

    It is not just you Cheese Cake. I also see it in the minecraft education folder. However I think that the crash folder is for saving data if the device ever crashed. Hope this get fix soon! Bye!

    Im not really sure if there is a solution for this problem, @Gurjarnail Singh, because they still didn't isolate the issue, and apple is still not releasing support for nativeclient on ios.

    Gurjarnail Singh you shouldn't try downloading the file. Trust me, I tried, and it opened to NOTHING! Or maybe it is just me...
