    Update 6/26

We have released a hotfix (v1.19.53) to resolve the multiplayer issues mentioned here. Note that iOS does not yet have the hotfix. Our next update before back to school will have this and more multiplayer stability updates for all OS's. Note that v1.19.53 (hotfix) and v1.19.52 are cross compatible for multiplayer, in other words uses on either version can join each other.

If you continue to see any multiplayer issues, please report them to us at https://aka.ms/MEE_New_Request so we can investigate further! Thank you!

    Update 5/18

We are still investigating 1.19 multiplayer disconnects. At this point we need some logs from affected devices in schools. For IT Admins, Educators, and Tech Leaders who are able to reproduce the multiplayer issues and did not have issues on 1.18, please submit a ticket to https://aka.ms/MEE_New_Request and request Justin, explaining that you've been encountering multiplayer issues only on 1.19.

Getting logs will be a huge step in our ability to resolve this issue. Thank you.

    Update 5/9

We rolled out the server-side update this morning to fix outdated clients who join a v1.19 bugging out the host's world. We're still investigating multiplayer issues with all users on v1.19, but would be interested to hear if this morning's update fixed it for users who had all users on v1.19 with multiplayer disconnects.

    Update 5/8

We are releasing a server side fix for cross-version multiplayer issues this week. This will involve no client-side changes or action. We're still investigating the cause of multiplayer issues where all users are on v1.19. Packet Captures sent to our support desk would greatly help this investigation.

    Update 4/26

We're still investigating multiplayer issues that persist even after all users have updated to version 1.19. If you do have a user on v1.18 attempt to connect to the host's world, the host will need to restart the app and re-host the world. Then have the v1.18 user update to v1.19 before updating again.

For persistant issues, we need more users to report the device make/model/OSversion in a ticket to us at https://aka.ms/MEE_New_Request

Packet Captures and Fiddler traces from devices that can reproduce a failed join also help. Thank you!

    Update 4/21

We understand that the multiplayer issues are persisting after all devices have been updated, and our engineering team have engaged with our network team to continue to investigate.

We would love to talk with anyone still having multiplayer issues directly so we can troubleshoot. Multiplayer is a complex feature and can be affected by a combination of factors, so we need to get more information from each case to understand if the issue is a client issue and if so determine how to fix it. Please open a request with the support desk so we can help! https://aka.ms/MEE_New_Request

We sincerely regret the disruption and inconvenience this has caused you and your schools.

    Update 4-19-23

The engineering team is investigating why a multiplayer session with users on different versions is disrupting game play, which seems to be the root cause of many of these issues.  From reports in this thread it looks like re-starting the devices has helped many people get back into gameplay.

We again apologize for the issues you all experienced with the rollout.

    Update 4-18-23

The engineering team is investigating why a multiplayer session with users on different versions is disrupting game play, which seems to be the root cause of many of these issues.  From reports in this thread it looks like re-starting the devices has helped many people get back into gameplay.

    Update 4-17-23

The team is actively investigating these issues and appreciate your feedback.  I am passing your information over to our engineering team so that they can figure out the root cause of these issues.  If you are able to send us logs or fiddler traces, please post below and @mention me and I'll create a ticket to collect more info.

We sincerely apologize for the disruption these issues are causing you.

I tried this new version 1.19.52 with my students and they are no longer able to connect to my world.

The day before the update, everything was going smooth.

From my perspective at the moment, it looks like the update broke it.

    We tried:

    1.restart minecraft

    2.reinstall

    3.reboot

    4. run as admin

    5. double check port forwarding

    6. change network

    7. restart router

    8. change host

    9. make sure we are on the same tenant

    10. shutdown the firewall.

    I submitted a support request

I had problem in this version with connecting. I mean that we check when the person on version 1.18.45 want to join to newest version world -> Minecraft is crashing and all people on the world 1.19.52 have same issues (can't click "E", can't get any block to hand, when breaking block there is no sound). And after closing world, the popup "Saving the world" shows long and nothing happen.

A few of our classroom laptops did an automatic update to v1.19.52 but now these devices can no longer host or join worlds, even with other laptops using the same version. When we try to join worlds, there is always a time out error. Also, when we try to save and exit from any Minecraft world in v1.19.52 the saving screen lags and we have to force quit the program to exit. We are using Windows 10.

  • I think the biggest takeaway from this update should be for the Minecraft Education team.

    - Don't push major updates during the school year. Save it for July/August when most schools are closed.

    And the common tech adage:

"If it's not broken, don't fix it."

I have scrapped my Minecraft lessons for the next month until you guys figure out these numerous issues. Before you ask for video evidence, documentation, re-creating the bugs...please realize I don't have time for that as a teacher. We had ZERO issues with v1.18, and now we have tons. We had 30+ students all working together for months. It's not our school, network, or devices.

I tried restarting +10 times with hard shutdown. Students see the world, but connection timeout.

restarting does not work for me

Just thought I'd add our recent experience with cloud based MEE hosting ...

(I'm so surprised to see so many problems reported here, you're all probably going to hate what I'm able to report)

... installed the MEE v1.19 app on a freshly built MS Svr 2019 hosting machine, no special firewall config or anything, accepted the dialog to permit the app on the Firewall, imported a saved World, and everything just worked out of the box in testing!!! Then had 15 happy students on iPads in MEE playing for an hour concurrently on Wed with no issues. Yay!

We are very new to using MEE at our K-6 School. We ran a few cloud hosts in Aug-Oct last year with MEE v1.18 with smooth running and great success. Then about three weeks ago started up again with one host machine with the new version. Had some show stopper issues and the host didn't perform well as a windows machine, couldn't RDP to it reliably, so I decided to fire up a fresh cloud Win VM, and all has been plain sailing since then. Just have to do the re-launching of the World every 48 hours or so when it times out.

I wonder if the issues reported here by so many may be resolved with fresh host machine setups?

Hope I'm helping. Cheers, Peter B.

I just tested on two different networks and was able to reach that page. It may have still been being updated. Is it still occurring? If you are trying to update you can also go to our main website homepage and navigate to the downloads page. The new build should be there to install.

Ugh, it was a struggle for me as well. I had to restart everything, and I mean EVERYthing multiple times. But things did finally work. Not sure what's up, but things are a little tough to get going.

Unfortunately with this new update my students (including myself) have a lot of problems. Students with Windows 11 have especially serious problems. Some do not log into their account, some do not enter into the game itself. No student was able to join my server, and when exiting the map I created, the game just freezes and constantly stau in the "save the world" menu. It's catastrophic update :(

Now I am suffering more like everyone else. It's pretty terrible. I am finding also that inventory does not work as soon as students join the multiplayer world. Really nuts!

I am also finding that the world does not save properly. If I stop hosting, save world, and try to close MC to reboot it, the world just does not save. Just hangs there. I have to force quit. What is going on?!

Today was an awful Minecraft day. Ugh.

Bryan Sanders Albert Lynn Gordieiev Artem I'm going to open tickets for each of you. If you could post a video reproduction of the issues that you're running into I'd love to send that to our engineers to see if we're able to reproduce that on our side and figure out how to solve it.

For anyone with world connection issues, please ensure that all users trying to connect have successfully update to version 1.19.52 of Minecraft Education and are not on the beta. Uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version from here may help: Download | Minecraft Education

I replied to the message with the created case, but I haven't received a reply yet, so I'm leaving here a list of bugs I found and a video with explanations and examples. I really hope you release an update soon because I can't teach at all... :(

    1. Main problems start when first student connect to my host world (world that I made specifically in random biome, bcs when I started world from Minecraft collection they can to connect to me, but with starting another bug)

    2. Freeze all animals and the world does not load in the edge. Inventory doesn't work.

    3. I can't make some programming block code with Agent, but student can. Agent can only to teleport on the position.
    4. After update, it was disabled firewall permission in Windows (student can't to connect into my world or start any from the Minecraft collection).

    5. When I try to exit from the game after freezing, the game freezes and I need to destroy process from the Windows task manager.

    Thank you!

Every time an update rolls out, I am filled with apprehension, and this time is no exception. It's hard to believe that this release came just as I was about to start a new club, especially after the previous club experienced numerous issues due to glitches in the last version. I had finally found ways to overcome those problems, but this update introduces a whole new set of challenges.

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully hosted a world on a Windows 10/11 PC and had a child connect using an iPad? So far, I haven't been able to achieve this. PC-to-PC connections seem to work without any issues, but I'm struggling to establish a connection between a PC and an iPad.

  • Hello forum. i'll list more of what I'm seeing here as the other comments are talking about the same issues.

Today, and this last week has been one of the worst experiences we've had, not only with students, but with other steam educators as well.

The 1.19.52 is one of the worst performant you've delivered.

    * I can create a world and act as host (after i've done aaaall the manual update from 1.18.45 with the time loss it comprehends in a virtual 1 hour class with 4-6 students) and everyone stays still. The world doesn't load, the inventory isn't openeable, and i cannot use any commands with the chat/terminal.

    * Make code isn't working, it just keeps loading whenever I create a project.
If I can make MakeCode work, it still performs awfully even in single player worlds, the time between ticks goes to hundreds.

    * The login / manage accounts feature, and the frogs are 2 features that cannot break the entire platform in any serious company. Having so many missing features, like dedicated servers, reading output from commands from code, other data types in variables, bedrock's experimental javascript API... just to be concise it's a joke.

*Even the create profile feature in this web is broken. I had to try 10+ times until i was able to finish writting my email account (the email address box is broken or has a limit of characters, which locks all the data leaving me to refresh the page), and the Create profile button has errors in javascript.

The use case of this game is education, and the only thing I can teach in the platforms are how to lose a job in tech, by putting as an example the current -update- developers.

Fix this. We are 1400 people that are affected with all of this, and this is only ONE company working with your platform. Please deliver.

    - Juan Ignacio Lanosa.

Once again another BROKEN A-F "update" from the MS!

I just spent an hour trying to get my students into our MC class room, completely failing half the time, and the ones who got in reported all sorts of issues. Had to cancel the lesson altogether. Some more notable stuff:

    1. Windows 7 is apparently now shadow banned from even starting the game??
I was about to start hosting my server as I usually do, but I found out that THE WHOLE GAME HAD BEEN UNINSTALLED, without my permission! And the installer always gives this error at the very end, no matter what I do:

...Thank GOD I had backups of my game worlds and such, but it was still a step back!

    2. The version 1.18.xx Worlds are TOTALLY BROKEN. Terrain generation is totally frozen, resulting endless voids around your own spawn point. Blocks either don't react to anything, or just instantly disappear when clicked on.

    3. Cannot open the inventory. Cannot send text chats. All players / NPCs appear frozen.

    4. Various connection issues that were not a thing last week!

Can we please get a legit Linux version already, so I can finally get off this  wagon?

  • ????? ?????????

Hello everyone, I previously wrote about the problems of the latest version. I want to add that the code builder works very poorly, it does not load, the download robot is worth it. Of the 19 computers, programming is not loaded on 9, it’s good that few children came and there were enough computers, I even gave away one of my own. Can you do something? Very strange, also on 2 computers there is no flight and resetting the keyboard settings does not help

Can you clarify what you are asking? If your screen looks smaller, take a look at your resolution and graphics settings. You may need to make sure that your video card (if you have one) is set as default and not your integrated graphics.

Aleece Landis it would not be the first time when MS "beta tests" new features with a part of their customers. That's how they've been slyly rolling in "updates" to the Windows and Outlook users these past decade. One reason I used Win7 up until this very year.

As we speak, the game world my class had spent a year building is still unusable on the latest version.

There was similar issues with an older 1.17 patch couple years ago that completely broke the game for many, many people. At least back then we got a tiny hotfix within the same week that cured most of the problems.

We were having issues spawning the warden, is there a special trick to it?

    Hey Dominic,

The Warden is spawned by making noise near naturally occurring Sculk sensors that are near Sculk shriekers.

Make enough noise and you will see him!
