We also have a customer with the HP Chromebook 11 G9 EE where minecraft after startup ends with a black screen. Would be nice if this can get resolved.

I believe this is related to an issue we're currently investigating where Chromebook users on newer OS versions get stuck at the red Mojang screen (for some users it seems very dark/black). We're working on a fix but don't have an ETA. We hope it is soon though!

We have also seen that the newest build versions of OSs seem to not communicate properly. Try rolling your OSs build version to an earlier version to see if that helps.

Are you saying that your device is setup to clear storage after each session? I am sorry to hear that it is still not working.

  • So I found a solution for this issue on my Chromebook.  If your Chromebook is a district owned and issued device, it probably has various proxy software auto-installed. Some of this proxy software can prevent the Minecraft app from redirecting you to the login page, effectively stopping the app from functioning. In my case, the proxy software was only on when not connected to the school internet. If you go into settings, and click the arrow on the right under Wi-Fi.

Then, click a similar arrow on the network that you're connected to and underneath that there should be a few options.

Hit the dropdown for proxy, and change the connection type to direct internet, and you should be good to go.
