Any Updates?  Last update was a day ago.

I did have students able to connect on August 10th.  At least 4 remote students were able to connect using the new connect code instead of the IP address and port.  And one Local student was able to connect via join code.  I had another student that wasn't able to get his minecraft education edition to update.

I was mainly trying to get updates or news about the multiplayer connection issues and forum posting since no new updates had come in since the pinned post.  But My posts were left pending so no one could answer if they were able to connect.  My support ticket had more to do with getting the update to go through.  Which is working for some computers, still trying on others or no contact yet from some students.

I am having the same issues as Gary

When I first started up MC at school with the new version, I noticed the CPU maxing out. Everything was slow. Then after several restarts I realised it is not going away.

During the sessions, my students would constantly get kicked off the server. It seemed quite random.

Then I realised the Classroom Mode did not work with this latest update.

Seems like this latest update was rolled out with little testing. These issues are not difficult to test for.

Thank you for letting me know that. I am sorry that classroom mode is not working. It's a known bug with the Bedrock Edition client that is actively being working on. We hope to have an update very soon that will address that.

Another problem we've encountered is that when we export worlds from the PCs (running 1.18.32) and try to import them into the app on an iPad (also running 1.18.32) the world fails to import.

    Hello,

I am a huge Minecraft fan and use it to teach students all over the world but I've lost a lot of money because of the latest update. I cannot run the classes if the game doesn't work. After updating to the latest version I've had issues with the game crashing while using OBS*, I've had issues with the game crashing while using GIMP*, and I've had issues with the game crashing randomly*. My students sometimes cannot join my games. These are students I've been working with for a year or more now. Before the update it was working well, I did not have the issues with crashing (except occasionally it crashed while I was switching between GIMP and the game). If you could reach out to me over email to talk about it I would really appreciate it.

    Sincerely,

    Josiah Blaisdell

*for OBS: the crash occurs when I resize the window while running OBS

*for GIMP: the crash occurs when I alt-tab to switch between the Minecraft: Education Edition application and the GIMP application

*Here are the errors I've been seeing today in Event Viewer:

    • The server Windows.Internal.Gaming.GipControllerWatcher did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
    • The server could not bind to the transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{68BC0CFE-F304-478D-9FC4-A104FCFBCF34} because another computer on the network has the same name.  The server could not start.
    • The driver detected an internal driver error on \Device\VBoxNetLwf.
    • The server {AB8902B4-09CA-4BB6-B78D-A8F59079A8D5} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Thanks Dominick for keeping up with the replies under the conditions. It's a shame we cannot roll back the installation until the fix has been implemented. I can possibly work around not using the Classroom Mode but it is hard to work with a maxed out CPU and constant drop outs.

In any case, hopefully, the Classroom Mode can be fixed ASAP to allow us to use the program. But also it may be the spark which pushes a well overdue update to the Classroom Mode with past requests such as here and here

    Cheers.

The new URLs were whitelisted today and multiplayer seems to work now, but we are still seeing major performance issues on almost all of our PCs. Strangely there are 3 PCs (out of 27) that work fine. I don't have the access to re-install the app, but that will be my next test.

[update] One of the PCs had Minecraft re-installed with full admin rights and the performance issues are still a problem.

It seems to me that the update changed the way the wss information is handled ans since the classroom mode software is using wss to communicate with minecraft education edition, it stands to reason that classroom mode will need to update to work with version 1.18.32

    Hi!

We are experiencing some issues with multiplayer connection.

    1. It's really hard to get connected, with codes and numbers.

    2. Once connected, my students are randomly expelled from the world with no reason.

    3. Last but not least, sometimes the app closes when someone tries to join the world.

I opened a ticket for this issues, I  hope they are solved soon!

    Thanks

Gary Ong - Sorry to hear! Maybe due to the world size increase.

When you say performance issues, do things lag a bit?

If so, Try to turn down Render Distance down from 9 to 3-4 and see if that makes any difference.

I had exactly the same problems as Monica except for the random app closures. I'm on a home network and adding all the URLs on the list to my antivirus firewall seems to have fixed it. (at least in tests with my student test account -- the big test will be Minecraft Club on Saturday). I'd never had to whitelist any URLs before to get my students to connect to my worlds, so adding minecraft-services.net alone wasn't enough.

I have also experienced several instances of Minecraft suddenly closing.  All my machines are windows 10 of various types.

I know there are already loads of reports of multiplayer connections, but I am going to add mine since I now have to rewrite my maths program for the term, and if I have to deal with that, then this post can deal with one extra annoyed post. Not even the first time this year...

Multiplayer won't connect with this new update. It doesn't even take long for the message to say "Can't connect to world"

I have tried it with multiple computers in multiple different combinations to make sure it was a problem on Minecraft's end.

I've recently deployed Minecraft Education Edition 1.18.32 across our school. Previously it was a mixture of pre-v1.18 versions ad-hoc installed under previous IT management.

Since the upgrade, nobody has been able to join other students worlds.

    1. A student will open their world by click Host.
    2. Press ESC to see the join code
    3. Another student on the same subnet opens MinecraftEE, clicks Join World, enters the join code and click Confirm
    4. "Is this the world you were trying to join? (correct info and user displayed) Click Confirm
    5. After around 1 second: Unable to connect to world.

It doesn't make a difference where in the school the student PCs are. It even occurs on the same physical switch.

All accounts are on the same Microsoft 365 tenant and licensed under the same 365 A3 agreement. Issue occurs between students which are on the same domain name, or with teachers which are on a different domain but on the same tenant.

All the PCs are Windows 10 Pro or Education 21H2, domain joined.

I've tried connecting via the join code, connection info code, and via the share URL methods, all with the same result.

I've checked our firewall (Palo Alto PA-460) and there are no connections being denied from the PCs I'm using to test.

Our endpoint protection (Bitdefender GravityZone) is set to allow all connections for the MinecraftEE executable. But I have also tried disabling it completely.

I have done a wireshark capture for both hosting and joining, and nothing is sticking out at the network layer as failing.

Giosue, have you confirmed that the host and joining computers are all on the same tenant and version 1.18.32? I only ask because in our adventure at online school last week, the new Multiplayer failure seemed to have a very different terminology, "Detected lost connection."  (update: It appears some students were ALSO getting "can't connect to world" on Saturday, but it was also resolved by our "whitelist ALL the things!" test.)

Also, have you (if you're on a home network) or your IT team (if you're on a school network) updated your URL whitelist? My multiplayer wouldn't work until I did this, and it took me a while to figure out that was the issue because I've never had to whitelist URLs before now. I still have to test it with my full class, but my test account, which couldn't connect AT ALL until I did it, connected instantly once I added all the URLs in that list to the allowed addresses in my firewall.

Thanks for all the great info here everyone.

And thanks so much for your patience!

Great to hear whitelisting the URLs in the firewall worked for you Sarah.

David, any chance you were able to whitelist the URLs in your firewall as well to see if that helped solve your join issue?

The real test with Saturday remote Minecraft Club happened today and everything worked perfectly! Whitelisting all the URLs in my firewall took care of all the connection AND kicking issues we had last week.

Also want to add we are also seeing exported world's from PC unable to be imported into iPad versions.

This whole update has been really disruptive to classes, as well as general teacher confidence in utilising it for lessons - something we have been trying to build for the last 2 years. It really resets all the work we have done pushing MEE as an easy to use educational tool/platform.

I have added the list to our firewall with no change. The only URL I'm seeing in the logs between clicking Confirm and getting the "Unable to connect to world" error is discovery.minecrafteduservice.com.

When I start hosting on a computer, the logs I'm seeing are two hits on the same discovery URL as well as a broadcast to the subnet to UDP port 19132.

In either case, I'm not seeing any data hit a deny rule.

My account is on 1.18.32 BETA from the old caves and cliffs update page. My friend's account is on 1.18.10. I exported my world and they downloaded it, but they can't play on it because of the .10 and .32 difference. The beta page isn't coming up on their computer and I think it might have been deleted with the 1.18.10 solid update. Any advice?

Hi colleages,  we are experiencing really bad situations when hosting worlds from different networks (home schooling typical situation). Students can connect, but the connection will kick all out randomly (in about 5 to 10 minutes). We already tried white listing url but it's not working. Other schools are contacting us because they experience the same situation. Please help
