Is it possible to set up generic email accounts and use those accounts as "dummy" account in order to allow temporary access?

For example, if your event had the acronym ABCD, you could have email ABCD01@uclm.es ACD01@uclm.es, etc. For security, you would have temporary password, which you would reset after the event.

JAVIER ALONSO ALBUSAC JIMÉNEZ I'm going to open a ticket so we can look at your licensing and offer options.  Debbie Alexander has offered a solid solution, which is to create accounts in your tenant for these students to use temporarily.  Depending on how your current subscription was purchased, you should be able to add licenses to your current subscription.

Watch your inbox for an email and we can take a look and make recommendations.

  • thank you very much for your answers. The problem is that the policy of our university does not allow to create users for students who are not enrolled in the university itself, so we cannot create @uclm.es users for these students. Honestly this would be ideal and would avoid headaches, but I have already been denied this option.

From the Microsoft store and our tenant we tried (actually it was done by someone with administrator role in our university) to assign licenses to users that were not @uclm.es (emails other than those of our organization), but we received an error message saying that these users were not recognized. I understand that it only allows us to add users from our organization in our tenant.  I don't know if it really can't be done or we are not doing it correctly.

Is it not possible to buy a number of licenses and associate them to any email or even associate them to the lab computers?

    Thanks again!
    Regards.

Would your university allow you to add a separate, non uclm.es domain to your tenant to use?

Add a domain to Microsoft 365 - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Docs

If not, you could purchase the commercial licenses, which will allow you to create a new, non-EDU tenant.  Here's information about that option:  Purchase Commercial Licenses – Minecraft: Education Edition Support

  • Hello,
I will consult the first option tomorrow with the administrators to check that with our license we can do it. In that case, we would have to add different domains because the students come from different high schools. The problem is that as a teacher I do not have direct access to these privileges and communication with the administration service is somewhat slow.

As for the second option, we had considered creating an @outlook.es account for each student in the course and buying a $12 license for each of them. Problem: we have to buy one by one and, more importantly, we have read that Microsoft only generates an invoice for $500 or more (we would only need 20 licenses at most). One of the teachers could advance the payment with his credit card, but without an invoice, our university would not refund the money. Is it possible to buy several individual licenses without doing it one by one and have an invoice for the payment? Could I then associate these licenses to the @outlook.es email accounts?

    Sorry for the inconvenience :(
    Thanks for everything.

You can do one order with the number of licenses needed that will vary based on local taxes so the best way to get an exact quote is to add the number of licenses you want to buy to the cart in the store and the total will be calculated.  After purchase an invoice is created and can be accessed in the Microsoft admin center. This article has more information on these pricing models, as well as different ways to purchase:  Purchasing Options for Minecraft: Education Edition Licenses

You will need to purchase one license for each user that will be participating.

  • Hi Dominick,

thanks a lot for your answer. Finally, we will try the following:

    1) buy a new domain www.xxxx.com, which we can manage independently from our university. In this way, the workshop teachers can have control over the licenses as administrators.
    2) Create email accounts on this domain, one for each student in the workshop. Thus, all students, despite being from different high schools, will have an account in the same domain.
    3) Finally, to buy licenses from this domain and associate them to the created emails.

    Thanks for your help.
    Regards, - Javier.
