I took the initiative at our school and got us set up with the help of the wonderful folks at the help desk. I think things are set up differently now, but I suggest that you look into applying for your school. I had to have my admin sign off on one email (I am tech lead) and I was able to handle everything else.

After that you will need to convince your admins of the value of the $5 license. I suggest starting with hour of code, and demonstrating the coding adventures available!

Good luck! It's a great opportunity!

Thanks Debbie! Originally it was my students who were excited about Minecraft but after the course I am too!  Right now my students don't have 365 accounts, afaik it is but wanted to check whether a 365 account the only way to access Minecraft Education Edition? If it is then I may do some paperwork to get the school and students 365 accounts, but keen to avoid the extra time doing this if possible.

A 365 account is currently the only way to access Minecraft Education. If you need help doing this I can create a support ticket for you and more details on that process will be provided.

Hi Dominick, yes I would appreciate some help but unfortunately my understanding is that because our school is not formally registered as a charity/non profit yet we would not qualify for 365 accounts. I've looked into registering the school and as I'm on my own right now it's going to take some time. Thanks

Debbie Alexander Thanks for this! Could you help me understand the structure please?... My understanding is that I would need a 365 account (~100$), then I could apply/setup a camp which would allow me to purchase and allocate M.E.E. licences (~10$) to other 365 accounts? My students don't have 365 accounts. Would I also need to purchase the students 365 accounts?

So I found out that it is possible to create a student user and assign licences that generate a username and password (the required login info) within a 365 account. The students don't need 365 accounts. Thanks!

I'm so glad you are getting set, and I am really looking forward to seeing where you take this! Let us know!

Yeah totally, it's a wonderful resource. The setup process was kinda easy. I have a student in class tomorrow who already plays Minecraft, and we are both stoking on gamification and game based learning. I'll be sure to let y'all know how it's going, and once I'm a little more confident with the interface and have designed our requirements then I hope to record/stream some of what we do. Thanks again!
