    Hey Piotr,

Unfortunately, we do not support the use of mods and  custom skins, however, there is an import button within the game for the importation of .mcworld files

I've just tested this myself and had the same issue.

This is a pretty critical issue for content builders such as myself. Can we please get this issue sent to the team to look at?

    Thanks!

    Hi Piotr Ataman

I've got a work around for you in the mean time.

Copy the folders for both resource and behaviour packs (just the root folders, not the .zip, or .mcpack files) into the development_behaviour_packs and development_resource_pack folders at:

    C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Minecraft Education Edition\games\com.mojang

Once you've got them copied over, start up Minecraft Education as normal, open the settings for a world, and add the packs as usual. You may need to change the packs to .zip and unpack them before copying the folders.

Let me know if this helps!

    Hi Dani Noble,
thank you for your interest in the topic and for your suggestion, unfortunately the way you presented does not work.
Actually the game detects the addon this way, but when applied to the world the addon does not work. Also if addon was compressed into .zip file it crashes the game. I'm afraid there is nothing we can do to apply any new addons. At least addons from the past still work :)

    Hi Ernie,
thank you for your advise! Seem like it is the only way to import worlds at this time. I am more concerned about other MC files. I understand Minecraft Education does not support any external files, although i hope it might change some day in the future.

    Best regards, Piotr

Seconding what Dani Noble said. I know resource packs aren't officially supported, but we're not asking for a new feature or for support for broken packs, we're asking to be able to continue using resources that have already been available to us up to this point.

Especially in light of Nadine's post on the Ambassador Facebook community today, if we're being encouraged to volunteer our time, knowledge, and resources to produce content for Minecraft Education, we need to be able to use the tools that let us do that more efficiently.

Sarah Elliott and quite a few others in the community (shout outs to everyone who commented and helped!) have done some testing and have some technical feedback on the results:

    1. Tested one from Sarah, receive the same issue and it eventually went through, importing from closed. Took 3 minutes to import.

    2. Tested again after deleting folder with MC open, automatically popped in.

    3. Deleted my original test pack, and imported from closed... automatically imported, no issues.

To me, it seems like whether MC is closed or open, you're likely going to encounter the issue if it's the first time opening the pack. Doesn't matter if it came from a website, or custom built. It may eventually open if you wait long enough (although in some cases it fails completely), or drop it into the folders manually. Once you delete the pack, and try importing it again, the issue disappears, so it must be caching something that resolves the issue.

While we have a work around in a way, it's certainly going to be a problem for those just jumping into content building, and this is something that is being promoted by Minecraft Education through the mentors and ambassadors. As Sarah said, while we don't officially support add-ons and mods, the system for importing them should be.

Hi there, been trying this for ages. I have a train and plane system network project and so I have imported train and plane packs in the past but with 1.20 they glitch out. Thanks for the help Ernie!
