Classroom Mode not Working
I am running the latest version of Minecraft: Education Edition and Classroom Mode for Minecraft (which I have checked and even re-installed to make sure) but when I try to connect Classroom Mode the connection immediately closes and Classroom Mode says that it is outdated and that I need to update even though I am running the latest version.

I am sorry to hear that classroom mode is not working. On August 9th we updated our services and in order to access our services uninterrupted, networks need to allow list a new URL. The new URL is https://*.minecraft-services.net/. If you don't know the process for allow listing in the network, you may need to work with your ISP for that procedure. Let me know if this helps or changes the issue.

I believe that is not the problem as I am on my home network currently.

I was able to find that this is a known issue with the Bedrock Edition. Classroom mode is not working as intended on 1.18. Our client build is based off of the Bedrock Edition client. We expect an update very soon to address it.0

I am having the same problem; Classroom Mode stopped working and gives the "update" message that others are talking about. It was working perfectly last week (first installed on my home computer) and today I tried installing Classroom Mode on my school computer and then got the "update error" message. I thought it was an issue with my school computer/administrator settings, but when I went back and tried it on my personal laptop the same message appeared.

Sorry to hear Erich, unfortunately as Dominick said above, we are still awaiting a fix for this issue. Thanks so much for your patience.
