Chromebook Minecraft EE not loading

  • So I found a solution for this issue on my Chromebook.  If your Chromebook is a district owned and issued device, it probably has various proxy software auto-installed. Some of this proxy software can prevent the Minecraft app from redirecting you to the login page, effectively stopping the app from functioning. In my case, the proxy software was only on when not connected to the school internet. If you go into settings, and click the arrow on the right under Wi-Fi.

Then, click a similar arrow on the network that you're connected to and underneath that there should be a few options.

Hit the dropdown for proxy, and change the connection type to direct internet, and you should be good to go.

There is no ETA at this time but as soon as a fix is provided, we will get that information to our users.

Sorry to hear about the black screen issue. This is a known bug and we are currently investigating it. If you are on Windows, please try this:

    • Uninstall all versions of Minecraft: Education Edition (back up any worlds you need to)
    • Navigate to: https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download
    • Scroll down past the Windows, Chromebook or Android, Mac and Iphone/Ipad options. Click "download from the Windows Store"
    • Try and download the update from the Windows Store and let us know how that goes!

Currently that is our only fix. I am sorry I don't have a fix for Chromebooks at this time.
