Weird freezing and restart

I'm running 1.12.5 on Windows 10.

This happened today in my class to about 6 machines:

Student world froze, all with same screen, kind of a blocky red and black screen.

Dialog box popped up, saying M:EE had stopped working, gave option to end the program.

Ss ended the program.

The M:EE icon disappeared from the desktop.

After a minute or two, the icon reappeared. We relaunched and all progress was saved.

Anyone have any idea what's going on?

  I’m just guessing here Bob, but check and see if those machines are now running 1.12.60. January 29 was the target date for a hotfix update to the Minecraft EE application. Perhaps it happened just as your kids were using Minecraft?

  This could very well be it as outlined by Andrew Forgrave.

  If the issue persists go ahead and submit a request and we can get it figured out.

  It may have been related to that update. So it looks like out of 22, about 15 updated to 1.12.60 without a hiccup.

  For the other 7, I ran the uninstall tool I dl'ed from here, then ran the regular download and install, and it worked. So far, anyway.

  I have to say that I dread updates from M:EE. Something always breaks. At least this time, they didn't all break.
