Questions and Lessons Learned Building a Mars Colony

My middle school students and I are working on a multi-week project to build a Mars colony in Minecraft Education. We've started with robot farming, and today worked with some advanced blocks to build HOLLOW SPHERES.

Here are some of our lessons learned today, using a shared world:

1. We can use ADVANCED blocks to code SHAPES like a SPHERE.
2. It can take a LONG TIME for the agent to create / build the shape.
3. Spheres have wasted space for FLAT GRID farming.
4. Don’t make a shape out of LAVA.
5. To STOP the agent:
6. Users need to be OPERATORS to run some commands (like build a sphere)

Here are a couple questions we have:

1. How can we SAVE our code in Minecraft Education in a shared world?
2. How can we make our AGENT build / work FASTER?

If you have answers to any of these questions, or anything to add in terms of lessons learned / tips / suggestions for "building with the agent / robot" please let me know!

  That sounds like quite the undertaking!

  To answer your questions:

  1. If I understand your question correctly, you can click the gear icon in the top right of MakeCode and select 'save project'

  

  From there you can save the code in the appropriate file location. If I have misunderstood your question, I apologize and ask that you please elaborate on your question so I may better understand.

  2. Unfortunately, there is not currently any way to speed up the agent. This has been requested before and I urge you to post this in our Feature Wishlist so it can be seen for future update considerations: https://educommunity.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/topics/360001721971-Feature-Wishlist?sort_by=votes

  My suggestion for speeding up the agent is to run the code when everyone isn't in the world! =]

  I don't know if that's an option! Also, don't run any other visual apps, like teams, PowerPoint, etc. while Minecraft is running. Don't forget to reduce chunks in the settings!

  Finally, run the code from whatever device has the sweetest RAM and the best best processor, if that's even an option. =D  Sounds fun! Post some screenshots or a video!
