    Hey there,

Oh no! That sounds awful, sorry that happened to you.

What device make model / OS were you on?

Did you get a crash report that you can share?

Unfortunately, it is unlikely those worlds are retrievable as the worlds are only stored locally on the device. We recommend backing up your worlds by exporting them to avoid data loss: https://educommunity.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360047555391-Import-Export-and-Manage-Worlds- t

You can go into the Minecraft Education world folder on PC or Mac, but I don’t know how to import them.

    Hello all,

Here is an article with the locations of the worlds on each device: https://educommunity.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/4404785703316-Location-of-World-Files
The process can vary on each device on how you actually convert them back to .MCWORLDS and import them into the game (if possible)

Just let me know what OS you are running and we can go from there.

This happened to me today too! 😭

Ernie Will MEE be working on an automatic backup system like other Microsoft tools? It seems silly that it does not happen...

    Hey Jodie,

This is an very highly requested feature that will likely be considered for future versions of Minecraft Education!

Thanks, Ernie. Our IT team have asked why Minecraft data is being stored in a volatile folder for packages on a PC when it should be saved to a non-volatile folder. It is quite ridiculous that the data is deleted when the app is uninstalled when other Microsoft apps do not do this. The apps message in settings even states that app data will not be deleted when uninstalled. Thankfully we seem to have recovered it by using EASEUS. Teachers do not have the time to export a world after every lesson.

    Hey Jodie,

What operating system are you using? If you are using Windows, you can our .exe version of Minecraft Education to avoid this predicament:  Minecraft Education desktop installer.

    Hi Ernie
We are using Windows 11, and we use the Minecraft app downloaded from the Windows store. Is there any way that we can get these worlds back?

    Hey there,

Unfortunately, no. The only copies that existed were on the device, as there is no cloud saving at this time. In the future, exporting will be good to avoid data loss.
