Can't transfer map from Java to Education Edition
I've seen discussion of exporting from Education Edition to Java Edition, but I haven't found anything about the reverse. The world was built in Java and intended to be exported to Education, however doing so spawns the player in a different world and then crashes the game. Is this direction of world transfer possible, or are they incompatible?

Hey there Natalie!
There are some 3rd party programs that allow that sort of world conversion, but we do not specifically support them due to high chance for world corruption, so I cannot support further with that.
If others have had success however, hopefully they are able to support you here! :)

Hi Natalie Tolls,
The 3rd party tool you're going to want to use is Amulet. It opens and converts Java, Bedrock and Education versions.
As Danny mentioned, it's totally unsupported, but I'm happy to share my experiences using the tool.
In general, make sure you backup or export your worlds before you try anything. Also, make sure you close Minecraft before you open any of the worlds.
I have successfully converted Java worlds to Education (and the other way as well), however I would note this: It's not going to work 100% of the time. What I've found is that the older the Java world is, the more likely it will barf trying to convert the world. Might not work at all, or the results may just be baffling when you try to open it in Education. Newer worlds have a far better chance at success.
Also, the process is essentially pasting your Java world into a Education world (so create a template in Education to drop it into first).
Hope this helps, and please let me know if you have any questions about the tool. Amulet is great, and lets you do some amazing things with your worlds.

Thanks Dan, Amulet worked great and my world is now in Education Edition.

Hi Natalie Tolls,
Great to hear you were able to pull your world over successfully!
Amulet is a great tool and opens up a lot of possibilities.

I use Amulet to convert a world from Java to Bedrock and vice versa but you need to always remember to have a flat canvass world for your world to convert
