Aquarium Tutorial Fixes proposed
As long as you use coordinates around yourself, and the fill occurs around you, the fill will move you.The tutorial would be improved with a rewrite so that the relative coordinates are near you but not surrounding you. Otherwise they will continue to fail.
Another option is to use the outline, and the likelihood of ripping up your aquarium decreases. =] When the air goes in it takes off the “lid” but it really isn’t necesssary because the flowing water does also. Of course, if you are building by other blocks, it is reassuring. =]
world.fill(from_me(-2,-2,-2), from_me(2,3,2), "glass", "outline")
#SKIP# world.fill(from_me(-1,-1,-1), from_me(1,3,1), "air")
world.fill(from_me(-1,-1,-1), from_me(1,3,1), "flowing water")
Catching another small error, the tut still includes the incorrect block, “seagrass” – after much finagling, it turns out it is “sea grass” and will live directly on the “glass” blocks.
On the other hand, kelp dies on the glass blocks, and needs to be on “sand”, where it lives, or on “coralblock”, where it ~really~ grows! =]

So, I have been looking into this a bit more. There is a note in the tutorial. It seems rather obscure to me, because ISTM that your player should be already standing in the middle of the aquarium at the time, but the note says in step 2:
Note: Make sure you're standing in 1 block hole in the ground when you run this. If you're on an edge, the water will spill over and break your bowl.
It is a bit nonsensical, because 1. if you should do this, you should be doing it in step one. and 2. the errors I get are not just a perfect aquarium with broken walls, but water misplaced. (IOW, a two glass block wide wall on one side.
However, not one to miss a chance for a fix, I have been trying it out. It is true that if you start from the very first step in a one block hole, you have an aquarium two blocks into the earth, but a seemingly 100% success rate.
A two block hole is unpredictable, because if you are not completely snug against one side, it fails again.
Screenshot added for effect. lol =D
