Minecraft Education on Chromebooks
Hi,
The high school where I teach has just bought Chromebooks and I've asked our tech to install Minecraft Education on them. I referred him to this page where it's stated that MCEE is no available for Chromebooks. https://education.minecraft.net/chromebook
However after a couple of weeks trying he's written back with the following information :
I’ve been trying to get the minecraft to run on the chomebooks and hit a brick veneer concrete wall J
"In the end this is the official stand from minecraft: https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360035130511-Minecraft-on-Chromebooks
I have no intention on jailbreaking the devices as it might affect the licencing from google and the management portal access.
I still believe that your best option is to have your own trolley with windows laptops with minecraft for education installed."
I'm a little confused because I was really hoping to be able to use MCEE with my students and this makes it impossible. The 2 links seem to provide contradictory information about MCEE on Chromebooks. Is anyone able to enlighten me as to the issue my tech has highlighted in his email and in the link he sent?
thanks

Hi there Toby Peck. I apologize for any confusion here. Minecraft: Education Edition is available for Chromebook devices.

To access M:EE on Chromebook, if your Google Play store is managed, it needs to be allowed by the admin in charge of the devices. The link your IT admin sent you is for the Java and Bedrock versions of Minecraft. I hope this helps!
