Thanks for reaching out. I know it can be frustrating not to be able to join in.

Minecraft: Education Edition was designed originally for in-class use on the same network. While remote multiplayer is a possibility the game is not optimized for it. I saw you already went through the security/firewall settings which is great! The other item that could be the issue is your router, sometimes you have to open specific ports to allow traffic through. It is entirely dependent on your ISP and we have had some users have to call their ISP to allow open access. I will link the instructions below for you. Due to the nature of various routers we cannot guarantee that it will work on every home network. Try these ideas and let me know if anyone has success!

Thanks for the quick reply Adam,

So if I am at school and on the school network this is likely something I am not able to do correct? I will need to pass it on to my IT department to look into changing?

Teachers are currently in school but all students are at home, but you are saying when/if students come back this will work much better when everyone is playing through the schools wifi?

    Thanks again for the help

Yes! It would be something the the IT admin of the school would have to look into. It will definitely work easier once everyone is on the same network at school. Like I said it is possible for at home multiplayer, there are just a lot more variables when dealing with everyone's different routers and ISPs. When its at school under one managed internet service then things become a lot simpler.

I am not sure if you have been learning about the different options for the game, but something that would work really well for the remote learning is assigning students lessons that they have their own world for. Then they can submit you their work separately and you do not have to deal with some of these multiplayer snags. You can even have them in pairs and one person can work on part of the world project then they can export it to their partner who can work on the other half of it. There are definitely different options that a lot of our educators are using right now besides everyone in a shared world.

I have tried to have them utilize the library of lessons, challenges, worlds, and tutorials, but most of them say they are blocked for them, why would this be? I have been having to download the challenge file, email it to them, and have them import it. Is there a reason these are blocked for them?

If they are on iPads then this is a known issue and the only official work around is to factory reset the device itself.

If not, then they are probably experiencing whitelisting issues on their computers. There is quite a list of URLs that need to be whitelisted for everything to connect properly:
