Custom Player Skins
Request: 2018 is the year that Minecraft Education provides skins that help make Minecraft represent everyone. Wheelchair character skins, amputee skins (possible robotic limbs) and I'm sure with Microsoft's awesome history in this area more inclusionary skins can be identified. This would be a big announcement and any technical or artistic hurdles are worth the time and effort. There's a lot of pride and love that goes with an update like this.
Response: Minecraft: Education Edition is currently not compatible with mods. All worlds that have been approved for use with Minecraft: Education Edition can be found on our lessons page and in the Library in-game. However, it is possible to create custom resource packs for the game to change many aspects of the game. This is in an effort to keep the education environment safe for all. Our development team is actively researching more skins to include. We'd love to hear your constructive thoughts below. Why are you interested in this feature, and what is the impact on your current teaching situation?

Good news everyone - we are moving the status of this request, "Custom Skins," to Planned! This means we are adding new skins and also starting the first steps of bringing Bedrock's Character Creator to EDU. What new skins do you think we should add?

Actually, some of the skins have these custom parts. Maybe there could be a way to add these to skins?

I could add to these skins also elder and children so we can work citizenship and social rights.

I would like the students to be able to customize their skins to make their characters more like them.

Skins are a way for students to be creative. It would be awesome if there were some way to customize the skins so each one was a little different. Kind of like the character creation bits at the beginning of a lot of the role playing games the kids play so much.

Yeah sure I bet that you're not even the real person and this is just an autoreply because it's been 2 YEARS and there are still none of your promised features. Don't just say you'll do something and then not care enough to actually do it. So many students want custom skins and features and you say that you're going to add them, but you're too lazy to actually do it. I don't know if you've ever played Java minecraft, but it's infinitly better than education edition already so the LEAST you could do is hear us out and fufill your promises.

Hi there! I'm currently teaching Minecraft Education Edition as an after school club and my students love it.
I want to give feedback about the character options (skins?). Most of my students are Black and/or Latino and there is a very limited selection of characters who look like them. There are a few non-white characters in most of the skin packs but a few, including "Town Folk" and "City Folk", are all white. Characters like the judge, lawyer, pilot, and scientist are only available in the lightest skin tone. I'm wondering what message this sends to my students and other Minecraft players.
I want my students to be able to play Minecraft as any character they want and specifically one that looks like them. I am educating a diverse group of students to be the next generation of computer programmers and I'm hoping Minecraft can get on board. You can download some different skins / mob skins by looking for .mcpacks (https://mcpedl.com/tag/mcpack/?cookie_check=1) download it and put it in the MCEE folder.
Or you can be adventurous and create your own, Skinseed, https://www.minecraftskins.com/search/skin/skinseed/1/
Just make sure you save it as a .mcpack and upload it. Super simple and quite fun. Here I made some for my STEAM classes.

I would think custom heads would be impossible
The reason why I think this is because in java there are NBT tags so to get a custom head in java is something like/give <target> <name of skull(totally depends on version ex: player_skull, skull)>{"SkullOwner":"<name of player's head you want>"}
(the command depends on version too)
most other Minecraft types including education, edition do not have NBT tags
We do not have custom skulls but there is some type of component I'm not entirely sure what that does -

Hi Chance Fields. Zachary Neal is correct, due to the difference between Minecraft: Education Edition and the java edition, Minecraft: Education Edition, does not support custom heads or custom skins. I hope this helps!

NEW SKINS and holding animals
Can we please make the players hold objects, other players and mobs on their head please? Also can you make it so that we can design our own skins on there or upload skins. Thank you.

When you say "save it as .mcpack" Do you mean to just create a folder in your files?

Texture packs
I'm not sure about you, but I think texture packs would be great. It shows the world in a completely different way. That is why I think this would be a good idea.

Is it possible to install Mods? Need for historical resources.
FOLLOWHello Minecraft community, I am a teacher in a school and one of my students is on a project with Minecraft Education. He already used traditional Minecraft as a form of play in his day-to-day life and decided to start in the educational version by his programming feature. However, he wants to develop historical content that goes through different periods of humanity. He knows that there are several types of Mods that modify features and scenarios for different times. I was wondering if it is allowed to put mods in Minecraft Education or if you already have something created that can be used.

Hi there Ivam Lamounier. Mods are not compatible with Minecraft: Education Edition. While some users may have had some success running third party mods with M:EE, we recommend against using these, as they are not vetted by our quality assurance teams and we cannot vouch for the safety of your device should the downloaded mods contain viruses, malware, or other damaging programs.
