Change the email associated with my profile

We understand that there are many scenarios where a Minecraft Community member would like to change the email associated with their community profile.  There are currently a few steps that you'll need to follow to create a profile with your new email address that reflects all of your Minecraft Education achievements.  We continue to investigate solutions that will simplify this process.

The Minecraft Education community profile uses multiple data sources to display all of the information on your profile:

• Microsoft authentication services are called to log you into either your school/work account or your personal Microsoft account
• The certified badge is synced from the MSLearn system
• Your newsletter subscription is tracked by our secure email system

Using these services can make the process to change the email associated with your profile tricky.  If you are going to be losing access to the email that you currently use for your profile, it's best to complete these steps as soon as possible.  After losing access to your email, it will be more difficult to complete this process.

Note:   Your new email will need to be either a work/school email (AAD) or personal Microsoft account.  If you do not have either of these, make a new personal Microsoft account

If you still have access to your old email:

1. Create a new profile in the Microsoft Education Community using your new email
   • Once you create the new profile on the Minecraft Education and fill out all of the required information, you will be granted the Community badge on that profile. 
2. Create a new profile on the MSLearn site using your new email
   • Navigate to Microsoft Learn site and click Sign In at the top right corner of the site
   • Sign in with your new email to create a new MS Learn account
3. Merge your MS Learn accounts
   • Navigate to Microsoft Learn site and sign in with your old email
   • Click the icon in the top right of the site and select Settings
   • Under Account Management, click Add Account
   • Sign in with your new email.  It is highly recommended to associate one personal account with your MS Learn profile
   • On the Settings page, you will now see both email addresses listed, one as the one that you are currently logged in with, and all of the linked addresses.
   • Once your badges are moved to the MS Learn profile with your new email address, your Certified teacher badge should be synced to your Minecraft Education profile within 24 hours.
   • If you are a Minecraft Education Mentor, contact Minecraft Education support and we will make sure that your badge is transferred and that you are added to all of the relevant groups.

If you do not have access to your old email:

1. Create a new profile for the Microsoft Education Community using your new email
   • Once you create the new profile on the Minecraft Education and fill out all of the required information, you will be granted the Community badge on that profile. 
2. Create a new profile on the MSLearn site using your new email
   1. Navigate to Microsoft Learn site and click Sign In at the top right corner of the site
   2. Sign in with your new email to create a new MS Learn account
3. Contact Minecraft Education support and we will work with the MS Learn support team to try to get your achievements moved to your new profile
4. Once your badges are moved to the MS Learn profile with your new email address, your Certified teacher badge should be synced to your Minecraft Education profile within 24 hours.
5. If you are a Minecraft Education Mentor, contact Minecraft Education support and we will make sure that your badge is transferred and that you are added to all of the relevant groups.
