    Hey David!

Sorry to hear! What devices are you all on?

We are all on Macbook Air. The version is Big Sur 11.6. Thanks for replying.

Ah I see. We have been seeing a slight trend of Macs on Monterey and Big Sur experiencing a crash on app launch with a "Downloading resources" error message. Our developers are still investigating this issue, but at this time we have one possible workaround.

Go ahead and try to clear the cache for Minecraft: Education Edition on the affected Macs:

    • Go to Library > cache > com.minecraftpe
    • Move those folders to the desktop
    • Delete them from the com.minecraftpe

This should clear a cache that may be causing the issue. It’s an experimental step, so it’s worth backing up the worlds on the device before trying!

Let us know if that helps!

The screen freezing while trying to open MEE is not only happening with macbooks but also chromebooks, ever since the 1.18 update dropped, MEE stopped working, regardless of school or home wifi, reinstalling and clearing cache haven't worked either :(
Please do something about it, Thanks!

Himanish T  - I'm sorry to hear that, but thanks for the report. As far as the Chromebooks go, is there any chance you would consider doing a Powerwash on one and seeing if you can install on it afterwards? (If that's going to be helpful and you would have time, of course. I'm just trying to troubleshoot things with you.)

Do you also have Macs with trouble? Would it be possible to check which version of MC:EE they have (I'm assuming you updated, but checking), and let us know what version you are running on the Mac, also? Thanks, we want to help!

I am having the same issue with my Chromebooks. I did a Powerwash and re-installed MEE and it immediately freezes with a dimmed Mojang screen. (:

Danny, I could not find any file called com.minecraftpe but I told my friend to update his mac to Monterey and it started working. Mine still has to be updated by the IT administrators at our school and I will let you know if it works.

Hey Debbie, thanks for the tips, I did try a powerwash on one of the chromebooks but it didn't do much :(
Macs are working okay, but chromebooks, at least some, aren't working at all, and the MCEE versions are updated to the latest version on all devices, I was just wondering if it was a bug that came with the 1.18 update or it's just a problem on chromebooks' side.

    Thanks!

For those having the Chromebook issue please try adding these three URLs to the allow list with the network: https://*.minecraft-services.net/, World.relay.skype.com, and turn.azure.com. Let us know if that helps.

Tried that fix just now. Didn't work. How do I add a pic to show what I did. Just to make sure I did it correctly?

Yay, David Fernandes - I'm so glad you and your team and everyone here were able to work together and get it straight! Please post pics of the great things you and your class are doing in the lesson plans area when things are happening later in the year! Glad to have you here. =]

I have downloaded Monterey and the latest version of EDU on a Mac and am still having trouble. It says resources failed to load. I am also not able to quit the program and have to go to 'Force Quite' (even though there is no red - not responding message) in order to exit the program.

When my Mac was first attempted to be updated it didn't work so the IT admins asked me to erase my computer and save all my files on a USB or drive. The updating then worked and so did MEE. I think one of the files was corrupted and by erasing my computer they were rewritten correctly. If anyone wants to try this note that it probably deletes all your worlds but I think a Minecraft with no worlds is better than no Minecraft at all. Also, I think the problem with the Chromebooks are slightly different to the problem with Macs so I only recommend this if you're using a Mac.
    Thanks,
    David

My MEE has recently stopped working again. I don't know why. The screen has frozen just like it used to and now I can't quit it except using force quit.

From what you describe David, it is the bug that occurred with the update. We think this freezing has something to do with the network connection being interrupted with Macs and our servers causing a force quit to be needed. If you are willing to help us collect data, I can create a ticket for you to gather all of that for the Devs.

Yes, I'd be happy to help you collect data.

Hi Dominick, we're having the same problem in our school district. Can you please help us fix it?

I fixed this problem by updating my Mac to Monterey 12.6 and shutting it down for five minutes before reopening it

Thanks for providing that David. We currently do not have a fix I can provide just some steps to try and see if it helps. Updating your OS version is a great step to try and check any communication filters that are in place. Let us know if Davids fix helps.

I've tried restarting, and also tried completely deleting all cache files. I'm running macOS 12.6.

Our IT department said that it might be related to Sophos....and that Sophos is blocking the app from fully loading.

    Hey there Gareth!

Thanks for the added info, let us know any updates as you all dig further into the Sophos blocker, that sounds like a cause.

    Best,

Hi, my students are one-to-one on iPads and the app is freezing after signing in. I downloaded it on my iPad which has the most recent version of the app and most recent software update. I sign in and then it freezes and doesn't not produce an error message. I have teachers wanting to use this building wide for specific classes. Please let me know when this will be fixed or what work around has been figured out. We have tried a hard restart, as well. Thanks!
