Cannot install 'Classroom Mode for Minecraft' on Mac
When I try to install Classroom Mode for Minecraft, I get an error stating that 'Classroom mode for minecraft cant be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. The software needs to be updated.'
What can I do to fix this error?

Are you able to disable your antivirus software during install or add the install so it is trusted by your antivirus? If this is a school device, then you will need to contact the school to see if an IT professional can run the install. I have a feeling that the antivirus software is password locked and you won't be able to make any changes without admin privileges.

Hello,
You can override this. From https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491 (section "If you want to open an app that hasn’t been notarized or is from an unidentified developer"):
1) If you still want to open an app for which the developer cannot be verified, open System Preferences.
2) Go to Security & Privacy. Click the Open Anyway button in the General pane to confirm your intent to open or install the app.
Microsoft should indeed update the software.
thank you,
chris
[edit] As Dominick said you will probably need administrative privileges so if it is a school device see your school IT.
