We do not have this problem generally. Have you noticed if the Mac users have updated to the latests version? A persistent problem is that Windows devices auto-update, whereas Macs must be updated manually. This means that when there is an update, your Mac machines won't be able to join anymore until they are manually updated.

Thanks, Debbie, the students have all upgraded to the same version of Minecraft, but we are still having issues with the different OS.

Some of the Windows users are already on Windows 11 while MAC users also seem to run different versions of their OS. So I fear that this depends on the OS version as well as the Minecraft version?

Hi Monika Barget this is very perplexing!  Just so I understand, is this what you are seeing?

    • Windows devices can join worlds hosted on other Windows devices, but can't join worlds hosted on Mac devices
    • Mac devices can join worlds with hosted on other Mac devices, but can't join worlds hosted on Windows devices

One thing we've found with Macs is that they tend to do better if they are on the latest OS version.  Could you have all students on Macs make sure they update to the latest version?   This article explains how to do this.

There isn't anything inherently different in the way the app runs on each OS that should be limiting the ability for students to join worlds together.  What could be different is network settings on the devices.  Do you know if there is anything different about:

    • How the students log onto the devices?
    • How the devices run on your school network?
