Survival Skills project

Good questions, Ahmed Rahim, and it's great to see that you're introducing an interesting survival based project (most tend to be in creative).

I would approach assessment in two potential ways:

    1) Assess them purely as a group, based on their ability to cooperate and achieve specific survival criteria.

    2) Assess them individually based on roles you've assigned, or roles they've decided to take amongst themselves. One could be in charge of mining, one could be in charge of planting food, one could be in charge of constructing the shelter/base and defenses etc. The success in the role would be measure by:

Food - Did the student grow enough to keep the team fed and alive

Base - Was the structure and the defenses sufficient to keep the team safe from mob attacks

Mining/Resource Gathering - Were enough resources gathered to keep the team supplied with tools and other equipment.

Let us know how you make out. This is an exciting lesson! If you need to chat further about details, I'd be happy to help you out and I can have one of the admins exchange our emails.

    Thanks Dan!

As I am a complete beginner to Minecraft, I would really appreciate the opportunity to chat further, so I can explain what I'm asking the kids to do, and all the ways that might translate into a game. [email removed]

Looking forward to chatting ... Ahmed

    Hi Ahmed Rahim

I will send you an email later this evening and we can set up a time to chat virtually.

I'll take down your previous post so your email doesn't remain public.
