Hi Hamish Scanlon are you trying to install on a school computer?  Your school IT department may have disabled the ability for you to install software on your machine.

It is my own computer but I use if for school and they did put some software on it, but I haven't had a problem installing anything else. I manged to get it to download by running it as administrator but I still am not sure why it comes up.

Definitely some restrictions in play here that are preventing the installation.

Can click on the file, then hold shift and right click?

You should see some additional options; you can try selecting "Run as Administrator" or "Run as different user" and you could install using an account with higher privilege's.

Thanks Dan I did manage to do that earlier today and download it but it is weird how nothings else I download seems to get blocked. 🤷‍♂️ Anyway thanks for your help.

I've had the same problems and listened to the advice. All of it has worked, I've tried restarting my laptop. I'm on the updated windows on a surface pro. My school account is used on this laptop but so had my personal account. I have had this installed before for a year, left it for 2 weeks-ish, then boom. Doesn't work. I'd really appreciate help soon as I play this game with my friend frequently.

From what I am seeing Crystal this is due to it being a surface device and the group policy's your school has in place. The first but of information is that if this surface is set to install programs like an android device, then it won't be able to. We currently do not offer Minecraft Education on android devices. With that said though you mentioned it was windows OS so it should be able to install it unless your district has set those permissions to block that. Since a lot of organizations simply consider it a game, they just automatically block it. You may need to contact a teacher or your IT admin to see about setting that policy in their management console to allow the install. Let me know your findings.
