Minecraft Education 1.17.30.2 Stuck on Downloading Resources Page

    Hi there,

Just wanted to add my experience in case it helps with the solution.

In a class group of around 40 students with iOS devices, had around a quarter that were having this issue. Tried connecting via a hotspot (in case it was an issue with proxies). Tried deleting the 'crash' folder in Files and tried deleting and reinstalling the app. Nothing worked. Plus we tried different accounts on different devices. No luck. Seems to be device specific.

It's a real problem as we can't possibly use Minecraft in the classroom when 1/4 of the class can't get access.

Andrew L's solution did not work for me. I deleted that file many, many times and still received the error. The only thing that worked was J P's .bat solution. This is annoying as it only happens on one computer in the class. 1.17 works perfectly fine on every other machine.

There are so many problems with this, and it has gone on so long now.  Can Mojang PLEASE fix this in a way that school districts can manage...  Soon?  We are wasting money on a program that isn't working now.  We are wasting time that could be spent teaching kids how to code or to give them an alternative way to visually build past civilizations when hand-crafting with popsicle sticks just isn't their thing.

    Some things i have tried.

I have tried deleting that file from appdata multiple times as suggested, approaching 10 times before it asked me to sign in again, unfortunately this has not worked for me, someone else's suggestion was to change network but we cant do that here at school, so i tried taking my work laptop home using my home network, neither my standard or admin logins worked for me trying that fix, as for my work laptop after getting reports about this from the teachers i installed the same education version of Minecraft and that has never worked/got past the Downloading Resources screen, even after updating to the latest version.

Looking forward to trying fix when it is released.

Sorry for the continued frustrations, Rob Blaber ! It sounds like you are doing your best to troubleshoot! The crazy thing is, you know somehow it is always some little crazy thing that is going to solve that problem, but ~you just don't know ~which~ crazy thing yet!~

I wish I had a quick answer, but you are doing the things I would do, signing in as admin, etc. We had one computer that wouldn't work because it was waiting on a Windows update. That's the only constructive thing I have! Good luck, and keep us updated. I am sure when fixes are ready the folks hard at work over at MC:EE will be posting them.

There are zero computers in my lab that can use Minecraft right now because of this problem. Please tell me there's a fix -- students are starting their projects this week and right now there's no way for any of them to use Minecraft.

We are a school district and are seeing this issue as well in our labs. The students are so disappointed that they can't work on their projects. Looks like a problem with their auto-updater as I can see 3 different versions installed under Programs & Features. New installations of the program don't seem to have the issue. I can confirm that version 1.17.30.52 does not resolve the problem.

Any updates? It's been about two months since the update and nothing has changed. We are a middle school in Florida and the only solution we have found is to go back to the old version (1.14.70). This does work and we are able to finally work on Minecraft. I would recommend this to other schools, as we simply can't wait for Minecraft to fix the issue. It could be months at this rate...

    Hey all!

Just wanted to check if your client version is updated to 17.32 at least?

I've just updated one of my sites to 1.18.32 (ios) and we're seeing this infinite "Downloading Resources" behaviour again (skip button does not appear)

I still have this problem on Mac - 1.18.32 - I did make a ticket but that didn't go anywhere. Ticket is 76271 - I even made videos for them, did packet traces etc etc etc.

I actually haven't seen this app run on a campus managed Mac in at least 2-3 years now (we've been through 10.14, 10.15, 11.x, and now 12.x).

    Hey there Jack!

You can download the latest version from here if you'd like!

    https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download

Please back up all your worlds, uninstall the old versions, and reinstall from above.

It sounds like you may have a firewall or content filter that is not letting you visit the page. Can you check those programs for any settings that may be causing that block to occur? Try allow listing that URL and see if you can then go to the page to download. We are also offered on the Microsoft Store if you are on a Windows device.

    Hey Jack,

Can you post a screenshot (without any personal info) of what the Store looks like when you try to get it from there?

Not sure if this needs it's own thread. But there are issues with 'downloading resources' again in version 1.18.32 (iOS)

We are using this at a school and we are behind a proxy here.

I know there was a a cancel button on the previous version.

Jack, please keep posts to one or two at a time. You can edit posts you make if you have more information you want to add at that time. As for the downloading resource issue, we are working to add that cancel option back in so users can skip it again. One thing to try is to set Minecraft Education to run in Windowed mode instead of Fullscreen. Let me know if that changes the issue at all.

    Hi Dominick,

    Thank you for the updates.

I am largely getting the 'downloading resource' issue on iOS in a school environment. Hoping we can get the cancel button back on the iOS version as well.

    Thank you
