Minecraft Education 126.96.36.199 Stuck on Downloading Resources Page
I have recently updated to Minecraft Education Beta 1.17.30 and the first time I signed in, it worked and I was able to play the game. The next day I opened it, the game updated to 188.8.131.52, and after I signed in, it was stuck on the "Downloading Resources" page. I waited for 3 hours but the page was still stuck on "Downloading Resources". I tried updating my pc and re-downloading Minecraft, but nothing worked. May you please help with this problem and how to fix it?
We have released a hotfix (v1.17.31) on Chromebook, Windows, and Mac which once downloaded, should fix the downloading resources issue for a majority of devices. If the issue persists, it will allow you to skip past the downloading resources screen.
The hotfix for iOS will roll out later this week. Thank you for your patience in this. View this link for info about how to update your Minecraft: Education Edition. If your issue persists past the hotfix and you cannot progress, please let us know in the threads of this post.
More good news everyone!
This is Andrew from the support team with another update.
We will be releasing a fix soon. While do not have an ETA for this patch, it will be for all platforms (Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS, and iOS). We just need a little more time to get it ready.
This has been a lot of trouble for many of you and for that we again offer our apologies. Your patience as a community has been amazing. We appreciate all the technical information that you've sent us as well as the trace logs. Getting this far wouldn't have been possible without your help.
We do have a current work around we recommend for Windows users. First, navigate to:
And delete this file: download_state.json
This may take multiple tries, but our team was able to reproduce the issue and fix it with this. Deleting this file may help other versions as well. I'll update all of you once I have more information. Thank you for your patience and your love of Minecraft: Education Edition!
Hi Fusion Wings I'm going to open a ticket so we can collect more info from you. Watch your inbox for an email.2
This is happening to me too. Its really irritating I've tried repairing the app via app settings, terminating all its processes, closing everything else on my computer, restarting etc. I even deleted it and reinstalled it. still nothing. Please fix this ASAP!!!!1
Jack Agnew we'd like to collect more info from you. Could you open a ticket with the support desk so we can see what's happening? https://aka.ms/MEE_New_Request1

Sorry about that, this editor has a bad habit of adding extra characters to URLs. Try the link now.1

We're currently aware of an issue on devices that is preventing users from updating and loading Minecraft: Education Edition. This issue shows the message "Downloading resources."
We're currently investigating this issue and will update this thread when we have a workaround or a fix. Please do not start new threads about this issue. Thank you for your patience while we work on this.1
Same problem here. Version 220.127.116.11. Windows 7 Professional. Worked fine for several days after the upgrade, just stopped working today all of a sudden.2
It was working all perfectly fine but all a sudden it stopped working and saying downloading resources and stuck there. 18.104.22.168 and I have a window 7 please help me.1
Same issue as above. Everything ran okay on 1.14. version a couple weeks ago.
Updated to 1.17.30, and everything but the game world's PASSWORD system worked.
Now the game gets stuck on the "Downloading resources" screen after typing in the log-in information.
Running a desktop PC with Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Intel core-i7 and GTX 1060.
The problem also replicates on my Window 10 Pro laptop. Re-installing also seems to fail (something something you don't have permission to this file?)0
Exact same issue with similar setup as J P above, please let me know if you discover a solution to make it past the downloading resources screen.0
hi, i openned a ticket saying the informations0
I see 3 different issues being discussed, all relevant to me.
To Agrim Chauhan,
The updater.exe plagued me for a couple of days and I had a thread about it on here. What I figured out is when you run the installer at least on a Windows 7 computer, it extracts files to a hidden folder called C:\ProgramData After you uninstall your old minecraft, delete the Microsoft Studios folder in this hidden folder and when you run the installer it will work again without updater.exe causing a critical failure.
I had the same issue as JP with the joincode system not connecting. It would say "Join Codes are not available right now" even though they are working for students on other platforms. I believe it is some sort of failure that is happening on Windows 7 pc's.
And now I am having the same issues with being stuck on Downloading Resources, though the game did work for a couple of days until today.
I am on a Windows 7 desktop and fully updated as I took care of that on the post I made asking for technical help.0
We are noticing the same issue at two of my sites (Secondary Schools in Victoria) so we rolled back to v22.214.171.124 which works fine. We also updated group policy to delete the Minecraft for Education scheduled tasks which update the software. This way we can continue to use the software until this issue has been resolved (bit of a pain but it is what it is) without the software auto-updating.0
Dear Colleagues, it seems I've found a workaround. At least it worked for me. Not sure for how long it will last though but it's worth trying.
1. Uninstall v 126.96.36.199
2. Delete the folder in Program Files (I also deleted everything in AppData/Roaming but we had the worlds exported recently, so it was safe to do. If you haven't done it you will lose the worlds, so try the trick without doing it).
3. Install v 188.8.131.52
4. Run v 184.108.40.206 and make sure it works
5. Install v 220.127.116.11 on top (upgrade)
6. Enjoy watching the kids scream in excitement. Not sure for how long, but we tried to turn it off and on again a couple of times, it still works.4
HUGE thanks to Nick Baskakov! This workaround actually worked, and I'm finally back in the game!
I will try to spread the word and prepare to go through these steps with some dozen students in the next couple hours.
Sure hope MS steps up their game and fixes this mess. I am not looking forward to the forced Mojang account transitioning if this is an indication of the quality of their services...3
May I please have a link to download v 18.104.22.168? Thank you for sharing this solution.0
Here's a .BAT program that downloads and installs v1.14.70 automatically. Works only on W10 AFAIK, and requires admin rights:
Alternatively, the good ol' .EXE installer. This one works with W7 as well:
