I have also tried uninstall v1.17.30.5 and install v1.14.70.0 and that works. So at least that's a work around for Windows devices.

However, I have not figured out how to roll it back to v1.14.70.0 for Chrome book devices. Any suggestion?

    Thanks very much.

Just adding here that the Password creation is still broken in 1.17.30 on a Windows 7 PC.

All four slots just give X and there's a red !-symbol on top, telling about error. This does not seem to happen on my W10 laptop, which I'd rather not use for hosting games.

Another thing to add, even though the work around works for solo users, when teaching through one server all the students need to be on the same version --> Minecraft Education ed. v1.17.30. As that is the latest automatic update we had.

But with the latest update we have had the same issue with this one, for quite a few students the game is stuck on "Downloading resource". Yes it works for solo users, however, for a class no.

We still need to have a better option than that.

You can fix this by loading via hotspot, or at home then loading on school wifi.  -Victorian Secondary, looks like a firewall/port issue?

Is there a fix for this issue yet?

    @Michael Newman

No. MS' staff is just washing their hands and instructing people to send tickets + post specs.

Just check out the round-about solution from the previous page, posted by Nick Baskakov. It's a bit of a hassle, and may still cause issues, but at least I got in the game. Just hope this Bee-eS won't leak to the MC Java version, or I shall never ever migrate my account.

    Hi everyone,

We are aware of this issue and our engineers are currently investigating it. Some of our users have had success by trying to update the app from different networks (where possible).

For Windows users, there is currently a hotfix available that bumps the version number from .5 to .52, and some users have reported this works. You may need to uninstall your current version of Minecraft: Education Edition to do so. We recommend manually backing up your worlds before doing this.

For Windows and Mac users, world files are stored in the following directory on your device:

    C:\Users\(USERNAME)\AppData\Roaming\Minecraft Education Edition\games\com.mojang\minecraftWorlds

    HD > Users > <user name> > Library > Application support > Minecraftpe > Games > com.mojang

    1. Find the world directory you'd like to transfer. Each world resides in a directory that has a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols as its name.
    2. Enter that directory and select all the files and folders inside the directory. not the directory itself.
    3. Archive these files and folders into a single .zip file. This must be a .zip file, as .rar or .7z will not be recognized by the app.
    4. Change the zip file extension from .zip to .mcworld

For those of you who are using the hotfixed version and still receiving this issue, please contact us via ticket and we'll provide steps on how to provide us a network trace. Thank you!

We have the same problem at our school.  I can see the post from Andrew L from 2 days ago that says there is a hotfix, but there is no link to the hotfix???  Am I missing something?  Please tell us how to resolve it.

I have had success with updating to the newest version 10.17.30.52 and then deleting the following folder:

    C:\Users\(USERNAME)\AppData\local\temp\minecraftpe

On the next run, you login and it seems to do the trick. Confirmed this on several devices so far. Only issue is the fix is per user. So if you have shared devices, you need to apply the fix to each user that uses the device.

Jess Mitchell, you need to manually download the latest version from the MC Education Editions homepage, and re-install the game:

    https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download

No quick fix-only file has been provided.

Even with the .52 installer, we are experiencing this issue. Strangely enough, the progress bar for downloading resources fills to 100%, but the game never progresses.

So, thanks to those who replied and told me to redownload.

I have uninstalled v1.17.30.50 and downloaded v1.17.30.52.exe file.  This is what I get when I open it:

I have tried restarting and redownloading. Still the same problem.

Now I have no Minecraft and I don't have a copy of the old version. Please fix this quickly!

Following. I've tried the fixes with no luck.

Jess Mitchell You need to run the installer as an administrator. Right click the installer and go to 'run as administrator'

Thanks Shane Crilly it has worked now.  I can't see that was mentioned anywhere in the instructions, it just said to redownload and install.  So I appreciate you telling me.

O meu minecraft atualizou para a versão 1.17.30.52 e agora está funcionando normal. Obrigado a todos da equipe que deram um suporte imenso.

Has there been any change on this one?  When I download the installer from the main site, it says that it is v.1.17.30.52, but only shows v1.17.30 on the main screen and the issue still persists.

UPDATE:  The installer from the website (and Minecraft itself) works fine on my work laptop.  It DOES NOT work on the lab machines that need it installed.

I've sent in my logs from Fiddler to the support team. Oddly enough, it works on my non admin and admin accounts, but not on a student account. The user has full rights to edit into the folder to download the resources so....

Brian Walz thank you!  We didn't receive the logs - I'm going to open a ticket, which will generate an email that you can attach them to.

Going thru the motions, hoping I can get this working on my machine, then a lab.

Downloaded the installer, ran as administrator, and I get this:

Finally got the reinstallation to go thru, but the downloading resources window never closes/finishes.

Just trying to keep this thread active.

This is what it says when I type in that web address:file:///C:/Users/%3Cuser%3E/AppData/Local/Temp/minecraftpe/DownloadTemp/

I still log into Minecraft and it still gets stuck on the loading resources page. Our tech department said the program is trying to access XBOX live and it is blocked (and rightly so) by almost all schools, including ours.

I've been replacing the folders underneath C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Minecraft Education Edition of profiles that do not work with ones that are working and that seems to be making everything work for the time being.

I assume that it will break again with future updates, but I have such a small number of students using it that I might just have to do it every time there is an update...

Hi Stacy Latham, we have a list of required URLs that Minecraft: Education Edition needs to work and why. I recommend forwarding this to your IT team:

We are still having issues with Minecraft EDU at my school. Everything was working great until the update. We tried both suggestions below.

    1.(C:\Users <user>\AppData\Local\Temp\minecraftpe\DownloadTemp\

    And delete this file: download_state.jso

    2.

    • Uninstall v 1.17.30.5
    • Delete the folder in Program Files (I also deleted everything in AppData/Roaming but we had the worlds exported recently, so it was safe to do. If you haven't done it you will lose the worlds, so try the trick without doing it).
    • Install v 1.14.70.0
    • Run v 1.14.70.0 and make sure it works
    • Install v 1.17.30.5 on top (upgrade)

Neither worked and it still says downloading resources page. This is very frustrating as an educator who is trying to build this program at our school.

The .Json file method is inefficient as we are a district with 100's of devices that all have Minecraft deployed to them. Might there be a fix to address on a wider scale ? The .Json method was attempted however there has been no resolve.

    Hi there,

Just wanted to add my experience in case it helps with the solution.

In a class group of around 40 students with iOS devices, had around a quarter that were having this issue. Tried connecting via a hotspot (in case it was an issue with proxies). Tried deleting the 'crash' folder in Files and tried deleting and reinstalling the app. Nothing worked. Plus we tried different accounts on different devices. No luck. Seems to be device specific.

It's a real problem as we can't possibly use Minecraft in the classroom when 1/4 of the class can't get access.

Andrew L's solution did not work for me. I deleted that file many, many times and still received the error. The only thing that worked was J P's .bat solution. This is annoying as it only happens on one computer in the class. 1.17 works perfectly fine on every other machine.

There are so many problems with this, and it has gone on so long now.  Can Mojang PLEASE fix this in a way that school districts can manage...  Soon?  We are wasting money on a program that isn't working now.  We are wasting time that could be spent teaching kids how to code or to give them an alternative way to visually build past civilizations when hand-crafting with popsicle sticks just isn't their thing.
