/function command
How do I set up to use the /function command in Education Edition. I've done it in the past with Bedrock edition where I can to create a behavior pack and then place functions in a folder and once that was done I could call the function from within the world.
This is a way one could kinda get around the whole not able to use structure blocks to export structures to import into other worlds.
Of course for this to work one would actually have to "Build" the structure in a text editor and then save it as a .mcfunction file in the correct place in the world they want to import the structure (or whatever) into. Of course it could be used for ANY commands that could be built in a text editor and then call in the world by command or command block.

Hi there Aleece Landis. Because Minecraft: Education Edition is not compatible with custom behavior packs, this method may not work as intended. I apologize for the trouble here. Have a great day!

Hi, I'm also interested in the /function command as a way of setting up and facilitating more dynamic environments for my students. I understand how it is supposed to work but I am unclear about the syntax <name: filepath>

Well, it is totally possible to do in education edition.
You just have to create a behavior pack.
I have done a basic behavior pack for being able to use Structure blocks, Dialogues and Functions.

Thanks Aleece Landis. I will have to level up my skills a bit to learn how to make a behaviour pack. I found a guide online for how to do it in Bedrock. Does it work the same way in M:EE?

Pretty much (you just need to find the files for M:EE to place the pack in the right place or package it correctly.) I probably have the basic pack some where I could link to for you.
I posted it in the minecraft education edition discord but now I don't seem to be able to post it here.
I've tried to post it in the next post down but it is "pending" so may never show up.

?screenshot?
to use the function command you literally type /function
and then you type the name of your function that is inside of the functions folder of your behavior pack.
What is inside the functions folder are basically text files with the extension of .mcfunction
inside the .mcfunction files you place your commands one command per line
You do not use / in the .mcfunction files
Here is an example of what a simple function file to handle tags might look like0
