Gamerule for cheats

It would be nice if there was a way to lock cheats off. Right now, a student can just go into the settings and turn them back on. I know many use Minecraft with just the teacher hosting the world, but some of us build worlds for individual/team projects. In this scenario it would be helpful to be able to keep cheats turned off.

  Hi Chris Fuge,

  This is a great idea! To make sure I understand the request, which features within cheats are you trying to prevent players from accessing? For example, "cheats" needs to be on to enable always day or disable mob spawning. Additionally, many times someone thinks of "cheating" it could be by switching to creative mode and giving themselves items. I'd like to make sure I understand what elements of the game you are trying to disallow. Thanks!

  Primarily switching gamemodes or things like /give, /enchant, /effect

  I can lock them on survival mode by hiding a repeating command block in the world with /gamemode s but then they can still "cheat" by using other slash commands. It would be nice if there was a way to disable slash commands altogether. I suppose it could be problematic because it might then prevent the original builder/world editor from turning them back on??

  Just a thought.

  Great suggestion! Thanks for the extra details - some of that is possible with pretty advanced manual configurations to the education.json, but there is no easy way for teachers to set those properties. I'll take that feedback back to our team to see what we can come up with.

  Hi,

  Has this been looked into any further?

  The original Minecraft EDU had greater teacher controls and this would seem to be a must when using in a classroom.

  This thread appears to have been pretty dead.
  
  However, I do believe one can use the education.json file in a world to limit what /commands will work in that file.  I know I've seen the educaiton.json in some of the library world templates and you can't really edit those worlds unless you pull that file out while you work on your edits.
