Hi Random Commoner - which world are you having this issue in?  Many of the learning worlds that you can access through the library have some restrictions on being able to place and break blocks.

I created this world and I use the slash commands and code very often. This has happened to me in another world, but I deleted the world as I thought something was wrong with the world.

I think I fixed the problem!

You may have accidentally switched to adventure mode. This allows you to interact with items like chests/buttons, but not destroy or place any blocks. There is also a setting called Immutable World that does the same thing.,

In game you can type /wb to allow you to edit blocks.

Hello, I'm just wandering why people can't join my world. We have been trying many times and it keeps saying "unable to connect" and no matter the locations of the players.

    Hi FlameBoltz abc

To have others join your hosted world, they will need to be on the same domain as yourself (need to have the same @yourschool.com - that's just an example).

Next, you'll need to do some port forwarding on your home router. Instructions are here

Hi Anthony Sanchez Jr, have you entered the command /wb?

  • Anthony Sanchez Jr

No and also I do not know how to put in. Commands

  • Dan Noble

Ok, no problem. You'll definitely need to type in that command:

    1. Press T on your keyboard.

    2. Type: /wb

    3. Press enter.

This will set worldbuilder to True and enable you to place and break blocks in areas that have a deny block underneath them and allow you to place and edit NPCs.

    Hi Ta Kaiya Cornell

Sounds like you've covered all the possible issues. Quick question, are you playing in a world you've created, or something from the library and if so, which one?

Hey Dan Noble well I was playing in my friend's world and all of a sudden I couldn't see my hot bar or my hand so I started looking in settings and I couldn't find anything to fix it then I found out I could tap my left arrow button so I got my hot bar and hand back then all of a sudden I could not break or place blocks or punch so I left and went on one of my worlds and it didn't let me break or place or punch. Thank You for coming to the rescue and help me I am so sorry to bother you Thank you so much for coming and helping me

    Hi Ta Kaiya Cornell

No problem at all. We try to help where we can!

That's an unusual problem you've described. I'm wondering if maybe some of your keyboard defaults glitched. Have you tried resetting keyboard/mouse defaults yet? (Settings>Keyboard, scroll to the bottom and click the button to reset.)

Is it possible that you changed the setting on the world to be immutable while you were trying to get your keyboard back? Did you create the world yourself, Ta Kaiya Cornell ? And are you running any mods?

(also definitely do follow Dan's advice and reset your keyboard!)

I’m having the same problem on my kid’a Chromebook with Minecraft Education Edition. Things I’ve tried:
    1. /ability @a worldbuilder true - it says the ability has been granted, but doesn’t help
    2. /wb - seems to be the same thing
    3. Double checking that I’m in Creative, not Adventure
    4. Creating a brand new Creative world, all other settings default.

I still cannot break any blocks, regardless of whether they were placed by me before or after the settings changes, or if they were part of the generated world.

    Any other ideas to try?

hi, Glenn, Sorry you're running into trouble, there.

Have you tried other worlds? Restarted the device? Tried other devices?

    Let me know.

This has actually been a problem on the Chromebook for more than a month. This is the first time I've really tried hard to fix it. So yes, the device has been restarted several times across that time period. I don't have another Chromebook to try with. I have created multiple new worlds in an attempt to solve this. I've also tried just a default world in Adventure mode, and I can't even break tree leaves. No "punching" animation even happens. It's as if left-click is unbound, except it works fine in menu screens.

I've played Minecraft myself in both Bedrock Edition on PC/iPhone/iPad and Java Edition on PC for hundreds of hours so I feel like I should know about how to make Minecraft work. This is the first time I've dealt with Educational Edition, however. I don't have any understanding of how the machine setup through the school interacts with these settings.

Glenn Sidney What about a world that is NOT in Adventure mode.  Adventure mode basically stops you from breaking blocks unless you have a tool that specifically gives you permission to do so.

If you don't have it sorted out, you might look into opening a support ticket.  Go up to your profile in the upper right corner of the browser and click to open the menu and choose submit help request.

Aleece if you read my previous message you’ll see I’ve tried all of that. Besides, in Adventure mode you don’t need tools to break leaves, and like I already said, it doesn’t even do the hand swinging animation to attempt breaking.

If I try to open a support ticket on the device, it tells me my child’s school account doesn’t have permission to do that. The account I’m posting through now is my own, but it has no connection to the Educational Edition. That’s why I’m posting here instead.

Actually in Adventure mode you can't break leaves with your bare hand in Bedrock and in Education you get the black square clanging sound when you try.
I kinda fear that perhaps you are having a chrome book issue and unfortunately I don't know enough about the chrome books to be of any real help to you.
You can probably still go up to the top right and try opening a help request or contact the school about it on behalf of your child.
Oh wait, Definitely go check the keybindings!!!!  Because they only affect the gameplay, NOT menus.

Check your settings to make sure you can break and place blocks. Open settings and then the corresponding section: keyboard, controller, touch screen. And check the settings corresponding to blocks.
