    MC:EE is actually a different version of Minecraft Bedrock. This means it is not compatible with the normal bedrock servers.

    HI Andrew Forgrave,

    Thanks so much for posting. I have not tried using Bedrock server with Code Connection. It would be my guess that this would not work. It's hard to imagine who would be running code from the cc app if it were to be connected to bedrock. Also, if an agent is going to be spawned, it has to belong to a player in the world. It can't belong to the dedicated server.

    In the desired scenario, the user would be connected to the server, in game. The user’s agent would appear in the server world and would respond to the code programmed in the code connection app on the user’s client computer. Each user connecting to the server would be able to have their own instance of an agent in the world, responding to the code in their own computer’s Code connection.

    Isn’t this what happens with M:EE when users are in a shared world? Each user has their own agent to work with within the shared world?

    Andrew Forgrave Did you end up making any progress on this? I would love to find a way to use Code Connection and the Agent outside of M:EE, especially in a server environment.

    Hi EJ Makela — Nah, it didn’t work.  At the time, I was looking for an alternative to M:EE to do Code Companion/Minecraft work with a not-for-profit that was interested in offering coding classes to kids from all across Canada. There was no licensing option for M:EE for not-for-profits, and the school-district tenant restriction meant kids couldn’t collaborate with one another in the same world with their local accounts. I had hoped that that the Windows 10 Edition + Code Companion + Bedrock Server might provide an option, but no.  The Bedrock Server implementation was extremely limited in comparison to the Java Server, where there is a huge amount of third party plugins to augment the Vanilla server and mod the platform. 

    With the release of the Camps and Clubs edition, Not-for-Profits can now license M: EE, and the upcoming release will support up to 40 concurrent connections. There is still no server implementation but at least the ability to provision learners from across the country and have them connect concurrently and build together is now a reality. :-)
