    Alright, I created tickets with both of you. Normally, this is due to the student having a faculty license assigned to them, but we can investigate deeper in a ticket after I gather some info. See you over there! 

    If anyone else runs into this issue and confirms the student was not assigned a faculty license on accident from IT, then I suggest you submit a support ticket as well. Thanks!

    The student shouldn't be able to set op permissions without being made an op on a student account. I would definitely try to re-op yourself and de-op the student. If the student is still set op, you may need to have them set your account to op on that world. I hope this helps!

    Thanks Andrew-L for the quick answer.

     

    The thing is, I guess the first time they connected to my server, some ended up beeing op because of settings I misunderstood. I can de-op (and did so) all my students, but this one, he is that grey color that you can't click on, like a teacher. I'm op too and I get that message that he's too high level to be de-oped... Really strange! I was wondering, could he have hacked or did something the first time he was set to op? I want to explore all possibilities before I talk with him, to make sure I know what I'm talking about.

    Hi Eric Luckenuik!

    Since student and faculty accounts are set up when the account is created, I would reach out to your IT admin and have them check to see if the student was accidentally assigned a faculty account instead of a student account - as that can change what permissions they have while using the program. I hope this helps!

    Good morning!

    I checked with the IT admin and the student has the student Office 365 A3 licence. I think I'll meet the student to find out what is going on, I'll keep you informed if he used a hack or exploited a bug of some kind.

    I have the same issue. A student who I cannot deop because it says permissions level is too high. He also has a microsoft 365 account, not sure if that's coincidence or the bug source.

    It seems like a bug... I have an idea but it seems kinda stupid.

    You could possibly go into the games code and manually deop that person.

    A quick search didn't get me python commands for deop. Any suggestion would be grand. I'll keep searching in the meantime.

    I have one student account that I cannot 'deop' as I am told 'permissions too high'. 

    This is really problematic in a classroom setting.

    Does this issue happen even if you (the teacher) are the host? If you join the students world you won't be able to change their permission level since they are the host of the world. Let me know, thanks!

    I was the world creator in my case. The student joined and joined immediately as OP

    Many thanks for your reply, they are on our student licences, all of which have been assigned and set up in the same way, only our 4th account is still set to operator status and when a teacher account tries to /deop, a notification says their permission level is too high (even when teacher is world host and /wb (set true)).

  • In this case, I wonder about deleting that student account, making a new one, and then trying again -- did you try that and it didn't affect anything?

    I have a similar issue, not being able to change permissions (all users automatically get in as Op's) while deop doesn't work. what is a "student license" Vs. "a license" or a "teacher license"?
    where can I define which license goes to whom?

  • Yoram Granit -- it's in the O365 database. Do you have access to that page? If not, then your IT staff does.
