Game runs slow on older iMac
Hello all,
The title of my post might inspire a "duh" or two, but I was wondering if anyone had any tricks up their sleeve for optimizing Minecraft Education Edition to run more smoothly on an older (2009) iMac. I read that Microsoft re-coded this version of the game in C++ instead of Java to try and enhance performance, but that's not the case for me. The regular Java version of Minecraft that I have runs really smoothly, sadly this version does not, even with all graphics settings at minimum. I can nearly crank the settings in the Java version and it is smooth. With the Java version, you're able to change some parameters in the launch options to allow the game to access more RAM. So far, I cannot find any way to do this with Education Edition. Any ideas? Thanks so much for any help provided!

Generally to enhance performance (especially on older macs), it might help to bring the render distance down to like 4 chunks, and see if that helps. Possibly also turning off things like fancy graphics, fancy leaves, etc. would also assist here. 0 -
