    Morning Richard,

There is no specific subject and we are a group of 15 students. How many students are in your class?

    Hi Richard,

I am using Minecraft EE with university level students and we are designing some simple worlds that can be used to demonstrate sustainability. It might be a good experience for our higher education students to interact and collaborate with your cohort. Our students are taking a degree in Environmental Science.

    Cheers,

    Helen

Good afternoon Alan and hello Helen

This sounds fantastic. A Global village is exactly what I was thinking too. The Future City sounds like a very cool concept. I have a year 8 class a year 7 class and a year 10 class working on building the challenges now.

Helen this sounds amazing. Are you using MEE with your tertiary students and are you based in Europe as well? My students are testing the sustainability challenges.

Guiding Question:- Can a game create a global village of inspired change makers.

What are the learning goals?  The key goal is a greater awareness of climate change

    1. That we can all make a difference
    2. That we have the power to change the outcome
    3. That team work and different perspectives are crucial to success
    4. Instill a sense of belief and connectedness to others and the world around us.
    5. To make a world of difference. Cultural change and positive mind set.

    Challenges

    1. ‘A Rising Sea’- Building bridges to help connect and save people from rising sea levels
    2. ‘Reforestation’ - Plant 50 saplings and carry water from across distances
    3. ‘Travel Together’ - Transport public not more isolation
    4. Renewable Energy - Build a solar farm and connect a town with clean energy
    5. Coral rejuvenation – Help rebuild the underwater life of the Great Barrier Reef
    6. Put out the fire – Fight fire with

What web conferencing software do you both use?

Zoom.us works ok here in Australia.

'Microsoft Teams' is a possible platform to use although I don;t know much about it. Guessing everyone would need a Office 365 account.

    Ok exciting times.

    Hi Richard,

great work. Thank you very much.

I would like to include the challenge: our workplace in the future.

I have got an Office 365 account.

I am also highly interested in something like a strategic partnership with other schools powered by Minecraft Edu.

    Good evening Alan

My students and I have been building 'the global village' . Have a look at the website that goes with it.  Feel free to take a look at the Island and let me know what you think.

It would be great to get some feed back from your students and who ever else is interested out there?

What would be your goals and expectations with regards to the Partnership? Sounds really interesting

    Hi Richard,

thank you for the link. It looks both interesting and challenging.

We are still working on our „Green City“. What about your class?

I might take some in game pictures and send them to you.

Unfortunately, we will participate in a German competition about STEM jobs, so I doubt we have enough time this term.

    Best,

    Alan

    • Hi there David thanks for this. We are looking to connect with a couple of schools from around the planet in 2019. Would love to have you on board. Where are you located and what year level do you teach?

I also have a fun Floating Island challenge as a warm up task for classroom team challenge. If interested I will upload it to the Website's drop box folder.

    Looking forward to collaborating.

    • Alan - can;t wait to see your green city. My students could do a video walk through of it and send it to your class.

Wishing everyone a safe and relaxing holiday break.

    Hey there Masmoudi Sonia

Wondering if you are interested in joining, do you teach a particular subject / year group ?

Ok thanks for reaching out really appreciate it,  I am sure there are lots of students and teachers out there looking to connect and create change we just need to take that first step, like yours.

I am constantly working on the Island with my own kids as they are heaps better at MEE then me. I will also put together a package of teacher resources together and post these once things get a bit more developed on the Island. In the meantime feel free to build / edit it/ add to it / share etc. The more ideas and energy that goes in it the better.

    Thanks again Talk soon

Welcome back everybody. Hope you have had a good start to the academic year.

Great to hear that you were able to get into the world and have a look around. My year 11 IDT students are now working on building the quests and getting it ready for a full launch in 3 weeks time.

You will have to go back to the link and get to get the latest version.

Looking forward to collaborating with your students from around the world and joining forces to stop climate change.

    Best regards

    Richard

Hi there Luk Van den Bossche

We are about to set up a conference page where students from around the world can connect and collaborate. We are working on what the easiest way for teachers and students to do this. If you and your students are interested let us know.

    Welcome aboard.

  • Luk Van den Bossche

We're from a Belgian school. Our students are 6-12y.

Since we're just starting with Minecraft, and our students main language is Dutch, it will be hard to participate.

But nevertheless I think the initiative is great. In Belgium every thursday students strike for climate (together with the girl who started everything Greta Thunberg: (https://www.hln.be/nieuws/buitenland/macron-ontvangt-greta-thunberg-anuna-de-wever-en-kyra-gantois-in-het-elysee-het-was-een-positieve-ontmoeting~aa31b354/ )

So this is a really hot item here. And I hope to bring some more awareness through Minecraft...

Good evening Luk Van den Bossche

    That sounds amazing, so inspirational.

    This is our school http://www.bcrandwick.catholic.edu.au/home/

A lot of our students are also marching and taking action.

It would be great for our students to connect via Skype or another platform as they would love to hear what other young people are doing.

    Thanks so much
