I have a teacher who reports that his students can create code in MakeCode in CodeBuilder, then they press C and chat opens, but none of their commands respond. All students in his class have this issue, over several weeks, in worlds they created.

Hello Matthew,

All users need to have Operator Permissions to run slash commands.

We are having the same issue. Our students have their own devices (wifi) but cannot use Make Code on them. We have now swapped them to our desktops (wired) but are still having issues. We run the same code on Tynker and it works fine. The issue seems to be Microsoft Make Code. Some students are able to use Make Code, but their code doesn't work. Others can't even load Make Code at all. Is anyone able to suggest some way of sorting this out? We are trying to encourage kids to code and this is putting them off. (220 students)
