Hello, dear Minecraft:EE team. Thank you very much for allowing us to test beta version so early so we can prepare for the new educational year.

We tried to test beta today and here are issues that we encountered. We used windows 10 low end PCs with Microsoft store version of Minecraft:EE.

    1) One of the most scaring bug that we found was sinking of the player inside the unloaded chunk. Here is the video of player sinking from the host PC - https://youtu.be/SWNuoIjzT6k . On clients' (students') PC there was no chunk. So student just jumped into a gap.

    2) Sometimes saving of the world during exit took a lot of time, longer than usual

    3) There are still no selectors for NPCs. They would be very welcomed. Also selector for a player interacted with the NPC would be great.

    4) We encountered a server crash when client tried to launch MakeCode (with "c" key). This behaviour seems not stable.

    5) Single sign-in feature seems not to work. Our windows 10 machine accounts are not connected to Minecraft:EE eligable accounts. Is it a reason for that, or this feature is yet to come?

We will continue testing beta and will try to keep you in touch.

    Few questions:

q1) We tested two worlds using scripting APIs and it seems to work. Will be scripting available in release?

q2) Will custom mobs be available in release? Currently they do work.

We are very thankfull for adding the graphical codes and player permissions to servers. It will really reduce students frustration.

@Tim thank you for the great feedback.

    • Great feedback on the selectors, I will pass this along
    • SSO works when you sign in to computers with your Office 365 Education account
    • As for your last two questions, yes. If it works in the Beta it SHOULD work in the general release

@Tim Antonov are you on a Wireless or Wired network?  Also, we'd love the chance to see the world where you saw this behavior.  If you have a chance to export it, you can click on the gear next to this comment and create a ticket, where you'd be able to attach the world file.

We were using wireless network. Sorry, I didn't find the way to attach the file, so here is the link to google drive - https://drive.google.com/open?id=14jU7ztUSH8wGHaf2tRtxql2MSLQsJRqR

But actually it happened after entering the newly generated infinite world.

@BrentJons ... thank you for letting us know about the sign-in issue! Our team is currently working on a fix. If you encounter this again, please close and re-open Minecraft: Education Edition. It appears to be an intermittent issue, so a restart generally gets you past the problem.

Thank you again for beta testing!

Tim - have you seen the sinking player again or did it just happen the one time?

    Bugs:

Just a couple issues so far -

Rare memory leaks - Which causes the server to freeze. Was using over 10gb of ram at one point.

^^^ This may explain the person above with the sinking in the ground

Having a controller plugged in and using the mouse will sometimes make the UI bug out

Enabling full screen without restarting doesn't work as it should

    * Usernames only showing when hovering over the other player - could be an oversight on my part

    Suggestions:

An option to disable the auto-load of imported worlds would be nice

Have the option to disable colored names - It gets confusing for the kids in team based games.

Global setting to default code builder off.

In game convert world to template

Classroom mode auto detect login from game

Classroom mode integrated into the game client

Ability for the teacher to see student worlds without join code / using classroom mode

    Hi Slayde-

Thanks for the great feedback!  We're interested to find out more about your request to disable the auto-load of imported worlds.  Is there a particular pain point that this would address for you?

I like the new text options (font, size, etc).  I am not sure how to see the immersive reader view (maybe that isn't on there yet?)

One thing I am concerned about is ease of access to join worlds - by that I mean:

    - Did the friends list go away? Before it was very easy for my 2nd graders to go to my world and work together on certain projects.  I guess it is still easy but I will just need to open it up and give my students the access code.

    - Can I as a teacher, pop into my students worlds like before?

    Thanks,

    Cindy

    HI,

I love the idea of being able to host and then give the students a code to join. I am trying to build a world for my students and am trying to use the border blocks to create where they can't pass. TI don't seem to be able to place border blocks in the world.

@Adam Bull ... Thank you for the feedback! For border blocks ... it sounds like you  may not have world builder permissions. Can you try giving yourself world builder by typing "/wb" in the chat commands and see if that solves the problem?

@Michael ... I'm going to jump in and answer some, but not all of your questions. First ... thank you for the feedback! We so appreciate your help in testing out the beta.

    • You are correct that the square brackets on the Pause screen should flip between tabs. This is a bug that we'll get fixed before we ship.
    • Your view of Settings > Storage looks like it would after an uninstall/reinstall. If you uninstalled, the worlds and templates were removed, so you won't see anything in this list until you create your first world. Can you double-check to make sure that you see worlds in the Storage list when you also have worlds in your My Worlds view?
    • For the sign-in issue ... we've got the fix identified for that one, and will have it in for the release. No additional troubleshooting needed, but thanks for checking!

    @Cindy

Thanks for testing. A join code is needed to join the worlds of others now. While this may create another step for you in the classroom, we implemented the feature to try and create a more secure and safe experience for students. You can of course still join as a teacher, but the join code will be needed.

    @Bac

Thanks for posting. This could be due to a few reasons.

    • Try removing your current version first
    • Try the desktop version

If none of these work, please submit a ticket so we can troubleshoot more directly. Thanks!

    @Michael

Thanks for posting and testing! I'll just jump in on the issues Melinda did not mention :)

    • The Servers for the Azure pilot are currently not working at this time. Apologies, I do not have any further information
    • As far as the app using more resources, I will be sure to pass this along.

    Thanks!

@Melinda  Thanks for the tip. Border blocks are working fine with /wb switched on

@Michael Yes! The pictures should be there. The Picture Dictionary toggle is in the "Reading Preferences" tab of the Immersive Reader. Let me know if this helps.

  • Aha got it, there's an off/on button. It's working for me now.

I stumbled across this annoucement (about azure and mee).  I decided to give it a try so I setup the azure pilot, installed the new beta mee, and everything seemed to work except that I get the outdated server message @michael mentioned earlier.  Is this a microsoft thing or a minecraft thing?  Sounds like we're in a holding pattern on this?

@Jer Stroup unfortunately the beta doesn't work with the Azure pilot, it's one of the known issues.

I was in creative mode throwing snowballs at random things when I threw some at a minecart and I noticed that it disappeared. I tried it again and it disappeared but when I went into survival nothing happened to the mine cart. Not sure if this is supposed to happen or if it's just a bug. Thanks

Hi Brady, that's some interesting behavior!  Sounds like it would be related to the core bedrock build.  If you'd like, you can submit this to the bedrock team by creating a bug with the Mojang system dashboard:
