    Hi Geoffrey QUARTERMAINE,

The update of Minecraft: Education Edition to the latest Bedrock version is in progress right now! Once it's released, it will include all of the new features added to Bedrock in version 1.16 including the additional features for Structure Blocks. We know it's been a long wait, but we are working on it right now.

    Thanks,

    Micah

Hopefully, this is somewhere in the queue,  It would be really helpful to clone some complicated redstone builds that could be imported.

  • Same issue here. Having the structure block save and load modes enabled for teacher permission account would be really helpful. Keep up the good work!

  • Hello Kyle-M

Is there any progress on this?

I wanted to post about the structure block, but found this old thread instead. So I am trying here.

  • I assumed this was possible already. Is there any info about progress on this feature as it would make a huge difference to what we could do? Thanks.

Hi Guys, currently trying to create a MC world for my High School Literature text, 'An Inspector Calls', and it would be great to be able to load structures- I have saved them.

    Any progress on this....?

    thx

    Hello Ryan,

Thanks for posting, great suggestion. I'll be sure to pass this along to the wider team.

Completely agree here! The ability to copy and past structures both in world and between worlds would be such an amazing addition to the education edition and enable teachers and learners to do so much more and collaborate in even more ways. Will the additional structure blocks be added to the new update?

Hey Kyle (and the rest of the community),

So being able to use a structure block like in the normal game and even more importantly to move things to new worlds is an exciting idea. I know in AdamS's official post at the top it said to use Makecode to save and export your code.

I just want to clarify... there isn't a way to use Makecode to have your agent copy a structure that is already built and move it to a new world, correct? The structure would have to be made using code, right? Then, you would export the code. If there is a way please elaborate because that solves the whole issue.

  • Hello development team.  Am really desperate for this feature to come to fruition.  It has been available in Bedrock and PE for a long time, so why not Education Edition?  I'm in a bind at the moment because this feature isn't available:

    - I have a class recreating our school for promo videos, fly arounds and virtual tours during covid

    - We walked around and measured the school.  To compartmentalise and get it done, I separated sections into teams.

    - Everyone started building.

    - I now have teams overlapping sections and building in the wrong spots.  Without this feature, I can't just simply copy and paste their building, they have to destroy and start again.  While this teaches resilience, it seems like it would help the project IMMENSELY if I could just copy and paste the building and have an agent destroy the old one for them.

    - PLEASE Enable this feature ASAP

Actually this could be done. We could code the agent so he would scan the object from star to end coordinate, then  save all block types and coordinates in a text file or a list, and then we could paste this code to another world. Am I right?

    I found a sollution:

    1. eport worlds
    2. unzip .mcworld
    3. open folder in Amulet https://github.com/Amulet-Team/Amulet-Map-Editor
    4. copy structures from one world to another
    5. save
    6. zip world folder
    7. rename to .mcworld
    8. import

    Bye, B

    Hey everyone!

We definitely know that this is a feature that would really help out all of our educators. The dev team is aware and we will update this thread and the site if there are any changes coming up. One of the work arounds that we have found for the moment is to utilize MakeCode. You can go into MakeCode for Minecraft and code block structures in it (this would be a really great exercise and lesson for the class) then you can export the code, share it, then import it back into M:EE: https://educommunity.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360046777911-Managing-Projects-in-Code-Builder-for-MakeCode

A fun suggestion was to have the class learn this type of coding and build various structures that you may want to use. Then you will have these structure codes to use in future lessons! Thank you for all of the feedback you have all been giving!

  • Hi! It would be useful to have the option to import into the structure block. I would like to be informed when they implement it, thanks for your excellent work

In the in-game help menu, it seems to suggest that there are three modes - save, load, and 3D export.  However the function is missing

    Hey Geoffrey,

There is a way to do that using Makecode... the real trick is for Mojang to create a way to transport projects between worlds. This way independent projects can be placed in a single showcase.

Here is a link to help you.. it does involve some coding but not too bad.

    Hey Brian,

Thanks for that.  I’ve tried everything.  I’m guessing it’s a setting I have turned on incorrectly.  But I’ve done all the coding.  I’ve coded the one on that project which is “Copy”.  I’ve even tried a “Move” version.  I can see that the start and stop points work and register, but the Copy and Move don’t register.

Sorry for the misinformation. I also tried it for the first time last night with a huge build I'm working on and got the same results. Wanted to duplicate giant towers instead of having to build all six by hand. Let's all hope that our calls are answered and the structure block is updated soon. Hopefully with the ability to move structures between worlds too.

    Hello.

In our school we are creating our beautiful country Slovenia. It's happening in more groups and difernet worlds. It would be great if we could combine creations in the end. So we also need this option!

The idea, that the agent could scan an object and make code out of it is mind blowing! I imagine this like a virtual 3D scanner… and then you could import code in other worlds.

    Thank you.

    Bye, B

    Hey Boštjan Ledinek,

Thanks for the idea but how do you code the agent to do that? If there is a way could you make a video instructing how? Thanks for the help!

Thank you providing solution. But I am a newbie in python. Could you explain more how to open folder in Amulet? Thank you very much

Boštjan Ledinek - That would work. I often will code the agent then make a text file to put the same structure in make code in another world. The addition of the export structure block would still simplify this process exponentially - and help out our teachers and students that may not be as proficient with coding.

Hopefully it will be in the next version, since they are a version back from Bedrock. See this link for a discussion on it. https://educommunity.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360073785792/comments/360013112991

  • It would be so useful given the current situation. I have groups of students collaborately building their worlds. When one student has to stay home he cannot join the world neither help in any way. If the load function were there he or she could help his or her team mates by creating structures that can be imported later on.

    Thank you.

Boštjan Ledinek - I've been trying to find the steps you've laid out but I can't seem to unzip the .mcworld as you described (after exporting). If you could lend information that would be great.

Merry Hofmeister - I would like to hear more information on how you coded an agent to put the same structure in make code in another world. Did you create the exact same structure? And can you show code examples?

I work with Virginia Tech and we are trying to work on a project that all encompasses engineering. Copying structures to different worlds would be very convenient for competitions amongst students.

  • You can use 7zip sotware (right click and unzip), also you could rename .mcworld to.zip file and then unzip it. When you compress it back to zip you should open the "vorldname" folder and then comporess all the subfolders back to .zip and then reaname to .mcworld

    @Boštjan Ledinek

Thank you for that.  It would probably be helpful to some of us to actually see a video step by step going over the process.

    @Merry Hofmeister

I would also be interested in a step by step tutorial about how to save a text file from make code to be able to paste it into make code in another world.

Well with the 1.17 update, we do have fully functional structure blocks.  It does require using a behavior pack in order to import structures into new worlds but that is the same as in bedrock.

Here is a BASIC Behavior pack with folders for functions, dialogues, and structures.  I have included an example file in each folder.  Be sure to place this in the Development behavior packs folder after you import it so that you can edit it without having to go searching in each world to update the files.  Enable it on any world you want to edit using structures.  It is also a handy place to put dialogue files you are working on for your npc and any function files you want to use in setting up your worlds.

Here is the link for the behavior pack.

    Hey Aleece,

This is such an exciting update! I want to thank everyone at Mojang for pulling this off. The students are so excited (me too) to have access to all the new materials and the updated structure blocks. Is there any way you might be able to put together a quick video tutorial on how to use the behavior pack in order to move structures between worlds on  Chromebook? Maybe one already exists and you could just post the link? Thanks! I'd like to create a gallery of previous works created by my students.
