Hosting a server from home
Hi,
I'm trying to host a Minecraft Education server from home that my students can access from their homes.
I have successfully used it at school internally for the students but I'm not having much luck now we are all remote learning.
I have lots of wifi upload and download speeds and I don't seem to have a firewall blocking it. I can connect to another computer in my own house but someone else trying to connect while I'm hosting doesn't work.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Multiplayer across different internet connections is possible as long as the criteria in this article is met. Keep in mind that every home network is different, so it's possible that some players may not be able to join a multiplayer session from their respective networks due to distinct configuration settings. Anti-virus and firewall applications may block access to multiplayer, so ensure you configure these programs to allow access to Minecraft: Education Edition.

Hi, Kyle! I am new with M:EE. Where can I find information or contacts for M:EE for college students? Thanks!

Did you have any success doing this? I have been trying like crazy today, and cannot figure it out! :(

Yes, I did manage to get it to work but it wasn't as straight forward as the advice Kyle gave. The technology person at my school did put the website on a whitelist on my school laptop, and we also had to disable the avast business antivirus for it to host successfully.
We learned the hard way, that you have to completely close down M:EE on the computer and IPad (by pressing the home button twice then swiping up the app) in order to join. If a student loses connection or the host does, or the host resets the join code (IP address doesn't seem to work) then everyone has to completely close out of the program and log back in otherwise students can't get in (thankfully it remembers your username and password).
I ended up using another Mac that doesn't have the antivirus on it and have had 99% success with students joining my host world - although a couple could not but I have a couple of theories why - they have older laptops / software (but newest M:EE) or they didn't totally close out of Minecraft each time so not all your students might not be able to connect unfortunately but having zoom on allows them to still play and chat with their friends even if they aren't in the same world.
Students also struggled with placing blocks (right click) on the trackpad especially if they are younger so having a mouse helps.
Hope this helps!

I am glad you have had some success... it gives me hope!
I am working off a personal computer, and no matter what I do, none of my students are able to access it. I have even tried using my own ipad, using cellular data, and it wont allow me to join when I am logged in as a student... I cannot for the life of me figure out why, or what I am doing wrong..
Thanks for the response! :)
