    Hi,

by hosting a world and sharing my current 4 Symbols I was able to play together with my students across the internet. There is an official setup guide on the website (for example, be sure you have opened some essential ports in your router configuration)

    Hi Thomas,

Did you have to do anything to allow your students to play? I have had no luck with getting them on my multiplayer worlds when we are all at home. I have tried quite a few times to port forward, with no luck.. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong, and its driving me crazy!

I am having the same issues. Why are there no responses from MS on these tech problems? I've seen these same issues posted in quite a few places.

I also had to open up the ports below before other players could connect to my server:

On your internet router, forward these ports to the computer running MCEE:

    TCP: 19132,19133,25565
    UDP: 19132,19133,25565

Thankfully this only has to be setup on the host's computer.

Thanks Tim, I will try that!
Do you have a static IP address on your computer, or have to set one up? Or did you just go right into your router and forward those ports?
    Thanks! :)

I am having the same issue with the port forwarding. I have set them on my router but when i check whether they are open this website shows that they are still closed.

    Hi-

Multiplayer across different internet connections is possible as long as the criteria in this article is met. Keep in mind that every network is different, so it's possible that some players may not be able to join a multiplayer session from their respective networks due to distinct configuration settings. Our support team is limited in our ability to troubleshoot these unique network issues, but we are always happy to try to help.

Here are some other troubleshooting steps to try:

If the suggested troubleshooting has not resolved your issue please try contacting your internet service provider as well, as we've found that some ISPs block the traffic needed to make a successful connection.

    Hi Carrie,
Yes that is the same information I was given when I contacted MEE by email. Those steps have not been working for me unfortunately.

I have followed the steps but i cant get this to work. I don't blame any one because there are far too many variables to create a conclusive guide for all.

It would be easier if Microsoft were in a position to provide a solution such as temporarily hosting the servers on our behalf while schools are closed. Once they reopen we could then go back to internal hosting.

At this point i am going to explore the original version of Minecraft as it has far more flexibility in regards to hosting a server online. Sadly, it will have to be optional and only those with the official Mojang accounts will be able to access.

Thanks for your patience and your feedback.  Our multiplayer service was designed to be used in a classroom with all of the students on the same network.  Unfortunately we're finding that the scenario of students and teachers at home on different networks can be difficult to enable due to all of the different equipment, software and network protocols involved.

Our team is actively investigating long and short term solutions to address this.  Please continue to check back for updates over the next few months.
