Where has all of my work gone? Why are 'OLD' style maps even still available?
So I am still getting my head around the basics but as an experienced minecrafter and teacher, I know enough to create something I think my kids might find engaging.
I'd created a world on Mac using Old, it didn't need to be big as it was going to be a short experience, and something of an experiment for KS1: learning numbers up to 5. It started on a Pier, close to the edge of the map, but about 10 blocks in. As you walked along the pier, you were introduced to block in increasing numbers made up of different colours to see how numbers could be made up of other factors, IE 2+3=5, 1+4=5 etc.
After this, an NPC gave the student a book, quill and camera, and further down the pier, new sums were presented, the idea being the student could snap them and add them to their book along with the answer to the sums. The adventure continued onto land and I'd hidden more equations in the trees. Ready to give it a trial with my wife, who is also a teacher, I booted it up in iOS and instantly the map reduced in size. Not only on the iOS device, but also on the host computer. Half the Pier vanished and most of the land disappeared as well. 2 days work completely down the drain.
I can't tell you how frustrating this is and it begs the question, why even have 'old' limited space maps available to create when they are different sizes on different devices. The stupid thing is, there is absolutely no need to reduce the size on iOS as they can now cope with infinite worlds the same as PC.
Either, match the size of Old maps on PC and iOS or completely remove them as I would hate for someone to endure the same frustrations I have.

I have found a solution to this if anyone suffers the same issue. Exit the game and before you start it, click Make Infinite. (surprisingly, this has restored all of the work outside of the previous crop which is a relief).
Point still remains, absolutely no point having Old as an option if it isn't the same size across all devices, could cause issues in the classroom if others make the same mistakes as I did. Perhaps an argument to have a limited size make, Small, Medium and Large?

HI Alan Downes,
Thanks for following up with your solution. I know this is an issue they are planning to fix with future releases as well.
