    Hi Ned W

What command did you use? How is your command block configured?

    Can you provide a screenshot?

We'll start with that and see if we can narrow down what's going on.

Hi Dani, thanks for the reply.

Here's a screenshot of the command I put in to get a command block, and the screen saying I've been given one, yet my inventory is empty.

It's really weird as it works in other worlds, just not in this one. My settings have cheats and command blocks turned on so I'm not sure why they don't appear

    Hey Ned W

    Thanks for the screenshots.

Is it an iPad that you're working from?

Also, the Blocks of Grass world you're hosting... did you get it from the Library>Starter Worlds>Build Plates, or did you create it from scratch from the Create New button?

Hi Dani. I mainly host this world from my PC but sometimes export it to the iPad. It's the same on both devices, command Bloks work in other worlds but not this one.

We created the world over a month ago so I don't remember which way it was started

    Hey Ned W

The reason I ask is because the Blocks of Grass build plate is much more restrictive than the one your can create yourself. Easy way to check, dig down... if bedrock is only 4 blocks down, you're in one you generated yourself. If it goes deeper, it's in the build plate.

Try hosting a world you create yourself and see if the issue carries over. If it doesn't, there are ways to copy over what you've done so far.

I think you could be onto something here. I had to dig quite deep to get down to bedrock.
How do we go about copying over what the students have constructed?
    Thanks so much!!

No problem at all, Ned W

There's a couple of ways to transfer builds over.

Structure blocks: You can give yourself a structure block (/give structure_block) which you can use to select and export items into a file. In turn, these files can be loaded using the structure block in another world. There are limitations on the area the structure block can capture... it won't go beyond 64 blocks.

Amulet: If you have an extensive build with lots of connecting paths and the like, structure blocks won't cut it, and you'll need to use a free tool called Amulet (a world editing program). Amulet is made for Java and Bedrock editions, but does work with Education worlds. You can copy large areas between worlds very quickly and easily (although there are some nuances to it). I have a blog entry on content building tools which mentions some of them, although you may want to search on YouTube for a more definitive walkthrough.

If you have any further questions on details related to the above methods, please ask.

I have the same issue as above, but (I think) a little different.  I created world and cheats and command blocks enabled in the settings.  When I go to give myself a command block it doesn't show up (I am using the command: /give @s command_block). It says I have given myself one but it doesn't show. I have  What am I missing here, I really can't figure it out.  Also, I had someone else join the world and they were able to give themselves a command block and it gave it to them.  Why can they get one, but I can't?  I am very frustrated over this (trying to figure this out so I can use it for classroom instruction),
