Thank you for trying. The P2P error message is simply there to state that something is blocking communication to our servers. Please go through the following:

    1. Make sure that //*.minecraft-services.net/ has been allow listed through firewall and content filters
    • The signaling connections use wss://signal.franchise.minecraft-services.net
    • The peer-to-peer connections between host and joining client use local ephemeral UDP ports specified by the host client (the local port range is defined by the OS) and sent to the joining client via the signaling service
    • Our system now uses ephemeral ports. They will need to be unblocked.
    1. Can you tell me if this is device specific or is this happening to everyone and how often?
    2. Depending on the device type, try toggling the cellular data setting to on with tablets, Chromebooks, android phones and iOS phones.
      1. It's a setting under Profile on all devices.

    Hi Dominick,

I have the same issue. However, devices running on 1.17.32 in my lab can still play peer-to-peer.

Hi Dominick, just reading through to understand our P2P problems.

We are suffering the same issue with: p2p hosting as well. Here's the details.

    1. Running 1.18.45

    2. works off network

    3. chromebooks and desktops ran it as of september/oct(preupdate)

4.Our tech services allowed all sites on the list.

one of my questions is-Are the "Ephemeral UDP ports" a separate thing aside from those unlock site lists? what would my tech services have used before this.

secondly, They told me they had problems allowing the ////*.minecraft-services.net/ link not going to a real place/file not displaying. this screenshot is what we get when we see it.

-This is not device specific and is happening to everyone teacher and student, all the time(since Sept/october) on chromebooks, ipads, desktop macs, laptop dells and macbooks. as long as they are on the school LAN network.

I am sorry for everyone having this issue. For Ephemeral ports, this is a new thing that allows the game client to use local ports to connect. Before the tech team would have used port a specific port but now with Ephemeral ports, all local ports get used. The *.minecraft-services.net/ is a wildcard domain and if your system cannot add it they can try adding all of the subdomains: FAQ: IT Admin Guide – Minecraft: Education Edition Support. Make sure that there are no pending updates for the device and the game client is updated to the newest version.

I got it to work by disabling ssl inspection in my firewall. I found that minecraft education was connecting to IP addresses that did not have an associated domain name so I could not add them to my ssl exemption list. This is not really a fix because it greatly diminishes the abilities of my firewall.
