Minecraft: Education Edition is licensed via yearly subscriptions that can be purchased via the Microsoft Store for Education, volume licensing agreements or through partner resellers.

Pricing for Minecraft: Education Edition
Minecraft: Education Edition is available to purchase for $5 (USD) per user, per year, or through a district-wide licensing model. We also offer a free trial where users will have a limited number of logins (25 for teachers and 10 for students) before a paid license will be required to continue playing.

How to purchase Minecraft: Education Edition
Licenses for Minecraft: Education Edition can be purchased through through partner resellers, via volume licensing agreements, or directly through the Microsoft Store for Education.
How-to purchase via Authorized Education Partners
Qualified education institutions can purchase Minecraft: Education Edition licenses through their Microsoft channel partner. Schools need to be part of the Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) volume licensing program. Educational institutions should work with their channel partner to determine which Minecraft: Education Edition licensing offer is best for their institution.

How-to purchase in the Microsoft Store for Education
School administrators and teachers can purchase Minecraft: Education Edition subscriptions for directly in the Microsoft Store for Education. Server licenses cannot be purchased and the game is not compatible to be run on servers. A single license costs $5 USD and lasts for one year.
Note: If you already have Office 365, you may already have Minecraft: Education Edition licenses for your school! M:EE is included in many volume license agreements, however, only the administrators at your school will be able to assign and manage those licenses. If you have an Office 365 account, check with your school administration or IT administrator prior to purchasing M:EE directly.
You will also need to purchase from the store on a managed tenant. Viral tenants will not be able to check out. If you are on a viral tenant, directions for an admin takeover can be found here.
To purchase individual Minecraft: Education Edition subscriptions (i.e. direct purchase):
- Sign in to Microsoft Store for Education with your Office 365 account.
- Click Buy

Note: Administrators can restrict the ability for teachers to purchase applications in the Microsoft Store for Education. If you do not have the ability to Buy, contact your school administration or IT administrator. Also, ensure the settings: "Allow Users to Shop" and "Show Offline Apps" is toggled on.
