Getting Started with Minecraft: Education Edition on iPad
Getting started with Minecraft: Education Edition on iPad is very similar to our other supported platforms. For example:
- An Office 365 education account is required to play Minecraft: Education Edition on all platforms, including iPad. To learn more, see Office 365 and Minecraft: Education Edition.
- Minecraft: Education Edition is available for any educational user to try for free, including those using iPad. Trial licenses are limited to 25 logins for teachers and 10 logins for students before purchasing a subscription is required. - Purchasing Minecraft: Education Edition licenses for any platform, including iOS, is done through the Microsoft Store for Education, via volume licensing agreements and through partner resellers. Minecraft: Education Edition cannot be purchased through Apple's Volume Purchase Program (VPP), but the software can be deployed through VPP.
- Assigning M:EE licenses any platform, including iPad, is required to play and is done via the Microsoft Store for Education and managed by an IT admin or teacher. - Deploying Software
Minecraft: Education Edition for iPad is delivered via the Apple App Store, and guidance for deploying the software within schools can be found on http://help.apple.com and the iOS Deployment Reference. - Touch-Based Controls
