To play Minecraft: Education Edition (M:EE), each user (teacher or student) requires a license which allows them to sign-in to the game on any supported platform. These licenses can be managed through a few different channels, depending on how the licenses were purchased.
For information on purchasing M:EE, see Purchasing Licenses for Minecraft Education Edition.
Prerequisites for managing licenses
In order to purchase and administer licenses, your organization must have an Office 365 Education tenant with accounts for teachers and students. Once an account is assigned a license, a user can use that account to play the game on any machine that is on a supported platform. For more information, see Office 365 Education and Minecraft: Education Edition.
