Licenses purchased by an admin

Who will this impact? 

Organizations whose admin purchased licenses on the Store for Education.  An admin has purchase and/or user management permissions in the organization's M365 tenant.

On April 1, 2023, there will be a price increase for Minecraft Education. See below for details.

Subscription migration

In March 2023, your Minecraft Education licenses will be migrated to the Microsoft 365 admin center. During the migration to the admin center, license management will be temporarily unavailable. The downtime is estimated to last only a few minutes.

Subscription management after migration

After the migration, tasks currently available in Microsoft Store for Education will be available in the admin center. Microsoft Store for Education will not be available after the migration.

• License management – Customers will assign or unassign licenses in the admin center.
• Purchases and subscription management – All new purchases for licenses, as well as management tasks like renewing, paying bills, or managing invoices, will be made in the admin center.
• *New* Auto-claim - Minecraft Education will be enabled for auto-claim policies in the admin center

Price increase 

On April 1, 2023, there will be a price increase for Minecraft Education. The price will change from US$5.00 per user per year to US$5.04 per user per year. The increase will apply to new subscriptions and renewals. You’ll be charged this new price on your next billing date after April 1, 2023, unless you cancel your subscription by visiting the Microsoft Store for Education.

• Log into the Store for Education with your tenant admin credentials to see which of your licenses will be migrated to the Admin Center.
